Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 1 of 113Rent a condo for a hotel price
Aloha Surf Builder rooms are apparently small condos that can be rented through Waikiki Sands for a low hotel rate. The rooms are way better than average for a budget hotel and even have LCD tvs and microwaves in a small kitchenette. I am impressed with both these rooms and the standard room across the street in the main Sands hotel.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 2 of 113Depends on what you need
This is a hotel to drop your bags and run, stay all day out, and return late at night. Bed was no good. Cleaning was almost OK. Free internet connection was extremely slow and unstable. Breakfast: just coffee or tea and a toast or a mini donut. The good part is that it is a quiet location, 2 blocks from Waikiki Beach, it faces the Ala Wai channel, which is not a bad view. They give you beach towels.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 4 of 113Loved the location and price
We totally enjoyed the stay. Friendly and helpful staff. We were able to leave our luggage with the staff after we checked out because we didn't leave for the airport for 4 more hours. The location was easy walking distance to the beach and everything else we needed. The bar was cool with nice patrons. Would recommend and would stay there again. Thanks!

Trip Type: Special Event Review 5 of 113Great room for the money
Basically its a decent location but you get what you pay for.. no room service. the gym is not much of a gym at all.. there was no soap and barely any shampoo left in the dispenser in the shower..the free breakfast in the morning was barely a breakfast at all.. not the normal contintental breakfasts you see at the typical hotel. I also didnt care for the fact that you get charged 15 dollars additional each day for parking your car too.. but overall if you can put all that aside its a great place for the money

We enjoyed everything about the hotel and the Sand Grill. The food was excellent and very reasonable. If we ever return to Oahu we will stay again.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 10 of 113Better than expected.
We stayed here two nights before heading to the Big Island. We were just looking for a basic hotel, as we don't usually spend much time in the room. While The Waikiki Sand Villa is not fancy, it more than met our expectations. The rooms were clean, had free wifi (though not very fast), and had a lanai. We never waited for an elevator. We didn't use the pool, but it looked nice. They had free continental breakfast.(basically toast, coffee and juice). Perry's Smorgie Buffet is right up the street if your looking for a cheap breakfast. Parking is $15 a day for unlimited valet, but that's pretty normal in Waikiki. It's about a 15 minute walk to the beach. Lots of shopping and restaurants near by. All in all, very good for one of the lowest priced hotels in Waikiki.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 113Professional and efficient staff; nice room
True to the Hawaiian way, every staff member I encountered smiled and was helpful without being intrusive. I liked the valet parking and was surprised how quickly they noticed me enter the lobby and were ready to bring my car, if needed. The room was comfortable and clean and had a nice lanai.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 13 of 113OUTSTANDING; FOUR STAR AT LEAST .... CONDO
The "Aloha Surf Builder" rooms are condos across the street from the main hotel. They are luxury rooms with kitchenettes and flat screen tvs w DVD players. King size beds. My only problem was that 11am checkout was non-negotiable. No 1pm or later checkout. There is a nice "Hospitality Room" in main hotel however for early arrival and people like me who just can't get enough of a good deal.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 15 of 113GReat accommodations for the price
I traveled to Oahu over the weekend and didn't want to bother any friends or family since this was a last minute thing. So I booked this hotel mostly because I knew it was the least expensive that I could find. Being that I mostly needed a room to sleep this was just what I needed to comfort myself. Not lavish myself but I was comfortable in the room I was assigned. Nice bar & grill downstairs that was open till very late hours, a nice and friendly bartender, Wade, was very attentive to all his customers. The hotel had all the basic amenities, including 1st day in room complimentary coffee, complimentary continental breakfast each day comes with the price of the room. I would stay here again.
