We stayed at 3 hotels during our stay in Japan and this was definitely the best value for the money.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 23Great Location, but Tiny Room!
Once we got over the initial shock of how small the room was (comparable to that of a cruise ship!), we really enjoyed this hotel because of it's fabulous location. I had never been to Tokyo before, so the room size mat the standard size there. Nonetheless the hotel did the job of providing a clean and fairly comfortable launchpad to explore Tokyo. It is in the heart of the Shinjuku district which is a truly wonderful place to get a taste for authentic Tokyo. Note that the hotel does not have a concierge to provide tourist information, though they do have a map that points out the most popular restaurants and bars.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 23Great location with nice rooms
Yes, the rooms are small - but you expect that in Japan. (Another thing you can expect - no flat sheet on the bed! Only a comforter.) The lobby and restaurant are beautiful. And you can't beat the location.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 23Outstanding value near Shinjuku JR Station
The Sunroute is a five-minute walk from the JR Station and near lots of fun things in Shinkuju, including great shopping and a neighborhood of local eats. If you're taking the Narita Express from the airport it's extremely convenient. Our twin room looked like it was renovated last week, and the hallways and lobby were in great shape too. If you're looking for more of a Japanese experience, note that there are lots and lots of Westerners staying here. But after a week in the ryokan, it was a fine change of pace. Plus, the front desk has a number of good English speakers, if you don't speak much Nihongo. The rate was quite good, even by Tokyo standards. If you're planning to stay near Shinjuku you should give this place a look.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 23I love this hotel!
I believe this will be my hotel of choice when in Tokyo. The rooms were comfortable (size was fine for Tokyo standards) and clean, and the staff was extremely helpful. The best feature in my opinion is its location. It has an entrance to Oedo subway station literally nextdoor. (Walk out of the hotel, turn right, walk 4 or 5 steps on that diraction and the elevator will be seen at your right hand side) and JR Shinjuku station is about 5 mins away on foot, which means you have quick access to most of the important spots in Tokyo. It has a convenience store right across the street (2 more are nearby). I sent them an email in advance requesting a room with a good view for my wedding anniversary and they got me a nice room on the 13th floor (no bad luck here!) Business center has 2 computers in case you didn`t bring your own and need to use the internet, but sometimes you have to wait quite a while for other guests to finish using them. The overall experience was good and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 23Get off at Yoyogi, it's a lot easier!
I enjoyed our stay at Sunroute, but it was a little hard to get to from Shijuku Station with luggage. (stairs, yuck.) We ended up getting off at Yoyogi station more often, which is smaller and easier to navigate. Just head up the hill towards Shinjuku station and you're right on the street with the hotel, super simple.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 23Worth Every Penny
The hotel's location proved very convenient given it is a 3 minute walk away from Shinjuku station. The hotel served as a hub for my wife and I to travel from neighborhood to neighborhood across Tokyo. Moreover, the hotel staff was extremely helpful and bi-lingual. When I had a situation with a local merchant (which I would have struggled to explain with my limited Japanese), the hotel desk clerk wrote a note for me in Japanese to bring to the store associate and resolve my issue. The hotel far exceeded my expectations and is of great value in comparison to its competition.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 23Nice value in a nice location
Stayed at the Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku during New Year 2009. Reasonable price and it is in a very nice location of Tokyo. We took the train all over Tokyo since we were a block away from the JR Shinjuku station. East Shinjuku is a very fun place to wander around to see the shops, lights, and food. Very close to neat spots like Harajuku, Meiji Shrine, etc. As we could tell from the pictures and other reviews, the rooms are very small but they do fine if you are going to be sightseeing and going out all day and just want a nice comfortable place to sleep.

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 23Good hotel for the money
A nice business-class hotel in a good location in the Shinjuku area. Five minutes walk from the giant Shinjuku train station.

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 23Best Deal for Tokyo
I've been in other other hotels around Tokyo and this is by far the best one I've stayed in. The hotel room was clean, nicely styled, and offered everything that we wanted. Since the hotel is on a street with very little traffic, the room is surprisingly quiet. My wife and I were very happy with the location since it is close to many places to eat and shop around Shinjuku. The short walk to the train station allows you to explore all other parts of this exciting city.
