Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 61Service Bad and Condescending
I booked a Deluxe King room and when I arrived I was told they were out of this type of room. I was told the room I got was considered "Deluxe" but without the King bed. The front desk staff and manager were unwilling to try and make things right at first. All I wanted was what I booked. They eventually gave us free internet access for the rest of the stay and said they could move me into the actual room I booked the next day. They offered this after about 15 minutes of wrangling at the front desk. The thing that disappointed me the most is how reluctant they were to try and correct the problem. I accepted the internet offer, but did not want to move all of my stuff again the next day. The kicker is our friends checked into a Deluxe room after us. After I saw the size of their room I knew, I was not booked in a Deluxe room like they said I was. I've stayed in many hotels nicer than this one. I frankly am unsure how they maintain such a high rating. The rooms are small as most rooms in San Francisco are, but they were poorly furnished with dinged up miss-matched furniture. I had several maintenance issues as well: curtain rod separated from curtains, bathroom sink handle was broken, the remote control for the tv only allowed you to "channel up" so you had to go all the way around or type in the channel number to return to a channel. Lastly, they have great HD tvs, but no high definition programming which in my opinion defeats the purpose of having the really nice, big flat screen tv. For the prices, they need to provide HD broadcasting. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Save your money.

When I got there and checked in, the room I requested wasn't available.. the junior suite they gave me a king bed which they were going to charge me additional for the roll away bed when my confirmation clearly stated "double queen" when I called them to bring me my bed I never received my roll away. Check in stated 12 noon but when I got my receipt in the morning it stated 11a. Over all the hotel was really nice, the room was really clean, surround sound, flat screen tv's, the works.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 61Great Room - Expensive Parking
I was impressed with the hotel and would consider staying again. This time I would upgrade from the queen to king size room. only slightly more a night and very worth it. If I were to stay there again, I would not drive. Parking at Hotel Nikko was over $50/night.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 61Great Hotel for a great price
The hotel staff was awesome and accommodated all of our requests (extended our stay at the same price, etc). The $10 pass for the fitness room/pool is a must, both are excellent. My only problem with the hotel was the absurd internet fee (~15) and some of the room service fees. However, it seems all hotels are doing that these days, so I don't really fault them for following suit.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 61Good Union Square Hotel
Attentive & friendly staff. Fast & easy check in. Hotel is clean and has some (almost but not quite outdated) zen quality to it. I visit San Francisco often and have stayed at many many hotels. I am mixed on this one and I am not even sure why?! It was pleasant and comfortable, easy walk to Union Square, nice and comfortable room. There was just something missing that I am used to receiving in San Francisco....I guess for me the hotel overall felt a bit empty and was missing that SF character and warmth but it was a pleasant and comfortable stay. It may just be me since my favorite area to stay is Nob Hill and I am not a huge fan of Union Square, so maybe it is just a preference thing...
