Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 62Great!
We stayed in an Imperial Room and it was lovely - great view, comfortable, included breakfast each day (american and japanese) and an afternoon wine/cheese reception. The staff was very accommodating and my son enjoyed the pool. Would definitely stay there again and recommend.

Trip Type: Family Review 3 of 62Great weekend
This hotel has excellent staff, willing to serve or help in any way. The room was nicely sized (I read some of the reviews ahead of time, but ours was lovely). The bath was elegant and well designed. We ate Sunday brunch (fairly ordinary, not worth the price). All in all, a very good weekend. The hotel needs a bit of a brush up in the hallways. The halls end up looking dirty because of the carpeting. The location was perfect for our plans.

This is a very nice hotel in a very central part of town. I can see if people have the means to get one of the corner rooms on the top floor, and are more affluent than me, this is an awesome hotel. I am going to recommend it for my rich friends. They would love it. I on the other hand am on a budget, and Hotel Nikko did not meet my needs. The regular rooms have very thin walls. If I were to stay again I would get a larger more secluded room on the top floor. This is where technology kind of fails us. In the old days you had a giant tube TV in a giant heavy armoire. People watch Robocop at full blast, everyone is happy. Now we have mountable flat panel TVs, any sound or vibration goes directly from the TV into the wall which is shared by the adjoining room. The room next to us was watching a movie at normal volume, but I could hear all the bass of the TV through the wall. Parking is $50 a day after taxes. Seattle is only $25 in the heart of it, so I guess I was expecting less, but the alternative of parking it on the street and having homeless sleep in it is worse I guess. Just be ready for the parking thing. Other than those two things (important to me, however) the hotel was marvelous. Gorgeous interior, great location. The staff was so friendly. I was looking for a restaurant in Oakland that I wasn't really clear on the name, and they were scouring the phonebook and internet to help me. Oh yeah, the business center computers are $.50 a minute with a $15 minimum. Maybe I haven't been to the big city enough, but I find this unacceptable.

I chose to stay in this hotel because it had a swimming pool and was located in the downtown area. The service from the staff was not very friendly and they charge to use the pool. If I had known that every amenity was going to cost extra I would have been happier in one of the cheaper hotels in the area. I would have gotten the same service and access to amenities. I mean they only had 10 channels on the TV. Not a luxurious experience in my opinion.

Trip Type: Family Review 12 of 62Enjoyed our stay
We traveled with 2 kids in tow. The kids were really impressed with the hotel, as were we. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We parked our car at the hotel and went by foot to go shopping, to the theater, and to Chinatown. The mini vacation we took was perfect and we had a great time. Thank you Hotel Nikko!

Clean, quiet, well appointed, nicely decorated in muted tones, well laid out and up-to-date rooms. Felt upscale and different from the standard tasteless U.S. cookie-cutter hotel room. Nikko is a very nice (Japanese Airlines owned) chain, sadly now reduced to only one or two properties in the USA.
