Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 13Identity Crisis?
The Se San Diego seems torn between wanting to be the coolest, hippest, craziest hotel on the one hand and knowing that it should grow up and be the luxury hotel it was designed to be on the other. The hotel itself is striking. Other than the hallways, the interior gets an A. The crowd, however, is what you might expect to find on college spring break. I started to get a taste of this upon arrival when I was told there was a celebrity in the house, and that she would be hosting the pool bash the next day. The "celebrity" was none other than Tila Tequila of MTV fame, and the hotel staff pumped up her pool party all weekend, claiming it would be bigger, wilder and crazier than the pool parties at The Ivy and the Pearl and any of the other hotels. Sure enough, hundreds of people paid to come party at the pool, and the hotel was rockin' out (and the entire building was literally shaking). Not exactly what you'd expect on a peaceful poolside afternoon at any given Mandarin Oriental or Four Seasons. Nor is the late night mayhem in the halls that seems to be biz-as-usual at the Se (couple screaming at each other, near fist fight, girl sobbing to her friends about some guy, etc etc). If you are seeking a peaceful relaxing vacation, Se San Diego is not for you. It has the elements to be a serious luxury hotel but, at least for now, it seems more focused on being the hotel of the moments and the hippest hotel on the block, and at that it succeeds.

what a terrific find in the heart of San Diego. Absolutely beautiful interior, great valet service and be sure and use the concierge service. These guys were wonderful. When we return to San Diego, Se San Diego will be our only choice for a hotel!

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 4 of 13Great for the young and trendy!
I need to vent:The hotel is beautiful and in immaculate condition, the room was nice, bed comfortable, very minimalist decor. But the problem with the hotel is it seems to revolve around its trendy lounge/ night club area. I spent on very sleepless night here, weekdays maybe better. I was on the 14 floor and could feel the vibrations from the music down stair, and through the wee hours of the morning could hear intoxicated people in the hall way slamming there, until around 3.30am. Service is slow 25 minutes to check in, two hours for them to deliver my bags from down stairs. If your young and in the party mood this is the place for you. If you’re a family , or past your 30's you may want to stay somewhere else. 8.00am in the mornimg they still had dance music blasting in the lobby, and outside the hotel.

Small room. No luggage rack. No ice w/o room service. Few drawers for clothes. High parking fees. Great location

Trip Type: Special Event Review 6 of 13Well done!
I frequently stay in 4 & 5 star hotels, and the Se offered the best guest service that I have seen in quite some time. They make you feel like you business is apprecaited.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 13Outstanding Hotel
It was hard to find, no name on the front, name was projected on the ground with an entry door which opened like a bridge, very luxorious. Every commodity, like the pool by the bar shows the upmost dedication to serving the customer. Coming from LA, Sunset Blvd has similar ratings for the hotels along the strip, but none for the same affordable price in such a premium location by the House of Bluse and Gas Lamp in Downtown San Diego.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 11 of 13UHHHHHH
Without a doubt, one of the hot-spots in San Diego. How long it will last nobody really knows. It is very comparable to the IVY. The staff almost seemed too welcoming and too nice. The televisions in the rooms are very small in comparison to other hotels. If you sign up for the hotels reward program(free) the wireless high speed internet is free. I ordered the NCAA March Madness package and it did not work at all. It pissed me off so bad. They tried to fix it. Once the kinks get worked out it will be a great place. The bar SuiteandTender charges outrageous prices so beware.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 13 of 13Quite nice
The lobby and room were both very beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was modern, functional, and relaxing. The hotel is adjacent to the House of Blues and very close to great clubs, bars, restaurants, and shopping. Overall, I'd say this is a great hotel, but there is room for improvement. Here are my nitpicks: the hotel does not have an airport shuttle despite being ~3 miles from the airport (they were willing to bring me, for a cost of 2-3 times what a cab would have cost). The internet (wired or wireless) is not free. The TV in my room did not work properly. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, but never mentioned one very important and relevant fact: the public transit in the area is great. You can catch a bus from a block or two from the hotel to virtually anywhere around town.
