Not a 4 Star Hotel

The check-in took half an hour, and the line was not particularly long. For whatever reason, each guest ahead of me at the counter took like 20 minutes to get checked-in and the line was not moving. To top it off, I specifically requested a smoking room. But when I got to the room, it said non-smoking! If you can believe, they still have those clunky tubes for TVs. I expected flat-screen for a 4 star hotel. On top of that, the room had a huge column right next to the TV, so if you're sitting on the couch, you cannot watch the TV. Only while lying in bed can you view the TV. The bathroom is showing its age, the shower and the faucet in the tub were simultaneously gushing water. The light bulb on the vanity mirror was out. This is at most a 3 star hotel.

Outstanding Service and Very Large Suite

The location is a couple blocks off The Strip, but it's on Flamingo Rd, which has easy freeway access, and a free shuttle bus.

Extraordinary Service - Made Us Feel Like High-Rollers

The room was spacious - huge even for a suite. The service staff was exceptional. Don't miss going to the top of the VooDoo Room to enjoy the view on the open deck.

Good Vibe

We liked the hotel and have stayed here before. There is an upbeat and young vibe which we like. Not a lot of kids here. Nice pool (but only 4 feet deep max). Great rooms. Large and great views. Two sinks which is nice. Very quiet for sleeping. They just need to get rid of the ugly loveseats. Also, hotel maids should have upholstery cleaner and should use it. Otherwise very clean hotel. There are two free shuttles one to Paris and back and the other to Harrahs and back. And they run often. Public computer usage is bad - no privacy and expensive. Very slow front desk people - waited a long long time to check in and not quite as long to check out. The restaurants are so expensive we ate at Gold Coast next door except for Breakfast. Nice breakfast at San Paolo Restaurant though. The excellent Mexican restaurant Bomboleo is not here anymore. That is a shame. Also, they need an ice cream shop in the mall area. We had to buy expensive ice cream bars in the gift store to get our ice cream fix. The casino is very nice. Would stay here again. FYI, we took the Deuce to get around the strip since we didn't have a car. They are brand new double decker A/C buses with tvs inside that show you what stop you're at. For only 7 bucks you can ride all day up and down the strip (both sides with frequent / convenient stops).

Great value for the buck

Rooms were clean and large with sitting area, double sinks and lots of elevaters not requiring a long wait. I only found a few things that need improvement. Some of the employees didn't have a HAPPY FACE and had a bit of an attitude.

Needs Improvement

The furniture in the room was old. The cushions on the sofa were flat and sinking into the frame of the sofa. There were stains on the carpet. There was no coffee pot in the room. Toiletries were minimal. The casino was far too smokey from smokers suggesting a poor air ventilation system. Internet access was $12.00 a day! The major good thing that this hotel has going for it is the service orientatioin of the staff. Staff were consistently helpful.

great room!

the rooms are nice and big for a hotel and very nice. tv placement is kind of annoying makes it hard to watch tv from your bed when you're hanging out in the room taking a break from gambling and shopping. other than that the hotel was quite nice and has shuttle service to and from the strip, which came in handy and saved us from having to spend money on expensive cab fare.

Worth your Money!

My hotel experience here was very great. The Rio is right by the strip. Easy parking, very comfortable beds, nice views. Room service was awesome. You can't here the noise from the casinos from your room. This hotel was worth my money and would love to come back when going to Vegas again. Compared to other hotels our room was very spacious with two beds and a couch that also fold out into a bed.

Can't beat Thursday prices but don't expect luxury

We rolled into Vegas on Thursday night instead of Friday afternoon like our friends. Saved good money on the flight, way more than the cost of the Rio on a Thursday. Our 'all-suite' room was basically a normal slightly worn super 8 type room with about 8 extra feet between the foot of the bed and the coffee table/couch in the corner. Friday and Saturday we stayed at Ceasers so all in all worked out pretty well.

Great Deal

We have stayed at the Rio numerous times and still enjoy the roomy accomodations. The room we had this time had the view of a wall about 10 feet away, which was less than appealing. Very friendly staff, and very accomodating.

Loved it!

Fantastic view, very roomy, friendly service, and incredible seafood buffet. Doesn't get better than this! I will definitely stay again!
