Location is unbeatable, and all the restaurants w/in the hotel have the best views in Waikiki. Clean and crisp... only downfall is slow, and small, elevators.

Because occupancy rates are presently about 67%, call to see if you can check-in before 3PM. Some people checked-in as early as 9AM while I was there. If I had known this I wouldn't have waited until 5PM to check-in.

Overall hotel service is good; however, there are two departments that require major improvement: 1) conceirge; and 2)beach cabana. The conceirge was the most unwilling and unhelpful gentleman that I've ever encountered. The beach cabana where beach umbrellas, chairs, and lounges are supplied had a gentleman working who was more interested in supplying equipment to outside companies than guests. To the point, that there was no available equipment by 9am for Hotel guests.

Rooms were small and the beds very uncomfortable. For the price, I would stay at a different hotel on Waikiki Beach.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 13October 2008 Vacation
We, and two other couples, stayed at the Outrigger for 3 nights at the conclusion of a cruise. I had read some not-so-good reviews of the hotel, but I cannot see why someone would have been disappointed. From the time we pulled up front until we left, the staff were all pleasant and helpful. Any questions we had of the area, including where to watch the football games and when was the best time to visit the Arizona Memeorial, were all answered and were very helpful. The hotel is right on the beach, plentiful shopping is nearby and Duke's bar is right there. The restaurant was always full, however we never had a long wait. We would definitly stay there again.

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 13Pleasantly Suprised
Our family (myself + husband and 3 small children) were meeting extended family during a family reunion. We prefer the quieter island of Kauai and were nervous about staying in a busy hotel, on a very busy beach in the middle of bustling downtown Waikiki. The beach was VERY crowded (Thanksgiving weekend) and upon arrival everything in town seemed to move at a fast pace. We were pleasantly surprised that the Outrigger Waikiki helped to slow everthing down. We loved that the beach was so convenient, the restaurants were great and world-class shopping is steps away. It was simple to get around town with the kids and we didn't need to rent a car. There were so many activities. The ocean was calm and safe (I even walked out several hundred yards and was still only hip-deep in water). The hotel was phenomenal at responding to the special needs of our family with small children. They referred us to a 24 hour doctors-on-call medical facility across the street when our daughter became ill. You never know what you will get at an urgent care facility in a busy city but this medical facility was clean and the doctors and staff were kind, caring and very helpful. I was surprised that we enjoyed this stay as much as we did. We'll definetly be back.
