Good Option for the Budget Constrained

The Hotel Bijou is an oasis for the budget traveler where they've taken the time to add some extra charm that makes the place stand out. The area immediately surrounding the hotel is a mixture of characters and union square tourists, so the hustle and bustle of it all might not be for everyone, but I found the stay exactly what I expected for my budget and needs. I'd stay here again.

Great Room for the Money

Between Union Square and Market Street, it's tough to find a more reasonable, clean, safe space. (and I even found on-street parking overnight and saved the $29).

THIS IS A COZY AND GREAT HOTEL FOR THE PRICE. THE ONLY CONCERN I HAVE IS THE IMMEDIATE NEIGHBORHOOD. THERE WAS SOME NOISE AT NIGHT.

Hotel Bijou Worthy Hotel in San Fran

Great boutique hotel. Customer service was very good. The bed was hard but I didn't lose sleep over it. Convenient to everything I needed to see. Would recommend it for those on a budget but want nice accommodations.

Don't stay near the elevator

Very comfortable hotel for the price near the heart of San Francisco, but I must warn against staying in rooms near the elevator, as the noise level is pretty high all night long. I used ear plugs that I carry with me to keep out the noise. Nicely redone, and very clean and well cared for.

great little find in SF

This is a clean, basic, personable little hotel in San Francisco, very conveniently located. I would stay here again and recommend it to others. The only thing I could wish for was wi-fi in the lobby, but it's really no big deal.

Great location, especially for the price

I stayed there during a convention at the Moscone Center. Less than 10 min. walk. Around the corner from Union Square. Not sure what the regular rate is, since I got a special rate, but I feel like I got the deal of the century. The staff was friendly, and the rooms are very clean. The breakfast is standard fare (bagels, muffins, cereal, etc). The older windows let in some sound from the streets, and the TV is worn out, but it's to be expected from an older building. To me, it adds to the charm. I'll stay there again next time in San Francisco.

Noisy neighborhood, cracking sheets, cracking floors...

Somewhat shady neighborhood (lots of homelessness). One good point, the hotel is close to the largest mall in downtown and a mass transit hub. Needed to keep the windows open and the noise kept me awake most tof the night. Bed sheets almost had the consistency of cardboard. About 7 tv channels to choose from. Don't go...if you can, pay more and go elsewhere.

Excellent Value

The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel itself had small but comfortable rooms, along with a good deal of charm. It wasn't as noisy as I had expected and I had a very good experience overall.

Excellent hotel but see notes below

It is well maintained hotel. No frills, but perfect and low-cost. It is in a relatively safe place, but if you plan to walk and use BART -- go to Powell St Station and make sure to use Ellis to Mason. Avoid being on Mason on Eddy or South of Eddy. That part of the neighborhood is not "gentrified" yet. Just in general I would avoid being on anything southwest of 5th on Market as well.
