Needs improvement

The hotel staff was helpful and prompt with questions. The maids did a wonderful job of cleaning and straightening the room. However, the building is very old and needs some updates to have it be current. The decore was from the 70's or 80's so it was clear that our money was not going to the upkeep. The laundry room was not desireable AT ALL. You had to pay for ICE....seriously, pay for ice? It was cheap as far as Waikiki is concerned but it felt cheap too. They could have made it better with new linens, comforters, and curtains. Also, you had to pay for coffee....we were glad we had brought our own!

Small room but close to everything downtown

It was cheap, it was available, and I was able to checkout early. The only thing that was really disappointing was that there was not place to park! You couldn't even get vouchers from the hotel.. you had to pay for parking in CASH! Other than that, I got more than I had expected. It was cheap, not spotless (calcium buildup in the tub) but was walking distance to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping center. All in all, a good room for a good price.

ATTN all wannabe connoisseurs who degraded this hotel...

I was very satisfied with this hotel. Even if I hadn't had read the countless amounts of bad reviews written on this place, I still would've been satisfied. Nonetheless, all the nitpicking about bad service, dirty carpets, outside noise, smoke, etc. All blown way out of proportion. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of Waikiki. My friend and I had no problems walking to the beach and all the surrounding shops and restaurants. The parking was relatively cheap and the guy even let us slide for one day! The concierge there was very pretty and very helpful with suggesting some cool local nightlife activities. We had a comfortable room with an amazing view and the window opens up sans screen. We had our beds made and towels replaced every day and no one hassled or bothered us about anything. All in all it was a very pleasant stay.

Spiders! And rea the fine print...

The hotel was located near shopping and restaurants, which was nice. However, when I got there, they tried to charge me 8.00 to "upgrade" my room to the room configuration I originaly selected. Since they whipped out a highlighted print-out of Hotels.com's fine print stating "room type may not be available" they felt this was totally justifiable. I did not. Parking is 12.00 per night and they only take cash...swell. As we pulled into the parking garage there was a man doing push-ups between the cars..??? The garage was creepy. The room was surprisingly roomy considering I had just stayed in a closet with a toilet at another hotel; clean, but I could have done without all the little spiders crawling on my laptop when I woke up. Despite the somewhat unimpressive spider invasion I thought the room was a bit better than I had been expecting.

really a good budget hotel

I stayed here 8 nights with my family. The reviews I read had me concerned, but this is a fine budget hotel in a good location. Pros: close to many food choices; on the main bus lines; walking distance to beach and ala moana shopping center; low price. Cons: lobby currently getting renovated, so some construction noise there (not in room);shower had only fair pressure; blankets a little worn; air con a little noisy (window unit). I would recommend this hotel for those who understand that it is a budget hotel, not luxury. I spent the majority of my time out and about, so it was fine to rest and sleep there
