Trip Type: Business Review 2 of 75Unique Experience...little more
Not for those who are used to comfortable hotel rooms. Not terribly convenient to the convention center. I'd recommend anybody to try it, but not for more than a night or two.

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 75Fun place to stay
We booked a night at the Queen Mary Hotel because we planned to meet a friend for dinner. She has two small children. The staff in the dining room was accommodating and seemed to enjoy the girls. We had a great time wandering around the ship and looking at the views. The room was clean, the bed perfect. A little noisy because of the man next door who kept laughing and clearing his throat, but not bad at all.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 75Excellent value
It is a fun adventure to stay aboard the Queen Mary. The upgraded room (due to booking with Hotels.com) was excellent. The bar is fun, the Promenade Cafe has good food and service. Negative: The AC is a bit on the noisy side and can not be shut off.

If you are a lover of nautical history, this hotel provides a wonderful experience. If you are looking for a state of the art hotel stay, you will be disappointed. Not for everyone, but for me, IDEAL!

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 75historic hotel
The Queen Mary was an interesting stay for both myself and my husband. He arrived in the US on the Queen Elizabeth but not in first class accommodations. To walk aboard a floating museum was very interesting. After the tours stopped the guests could roam the ship until dark. The bed was wonderful. Anyone just has to remember that this is a 60 plus year old ship and everything is not modern. I will return when we visit Long Beach to this hotel.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 75Have Always Enjoyed
Have stayed at this establishment multiple times for business trips and have always enjoyed the experience. A word of wisdom to potential travelers, please remember that you will be lodging on a historic ship that is 70+ years old with many of it's original features and fixtures. While this may appeal to more adventurous and open minded travelers, those seeking a modern generic hotel room might want to consider staying at a chain brand. As for myself and the various other patrons I've spoke with during my stays, the Queen Mary experience is something more than just booking and occupying a hotel room. Explore, Experience and ENJOY!

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 75A Great Piece of History
I stayed at the Queen Mary because I had a business meeting there the next day. The rate was great (standard room "on sale" with Hotels.com at the lowest price). Michael at the front desk was cheerful and very accomodating and upgraded my room to the "Deluxe Stateroom". Staying onboard was like going back in time. This is essentially a museum and kept in decent condition, considering its age and history. If you travel a lot, this is a departure from typical "landlubber" hotels.

A bit quirky (built in 1936), lots of nostalgia, overall rather nice. We also took advantage of the "Ghost Tour" at 8pm that evening. Overall experience, for the price, we felt it was a good deal! Only complaint was the food...we ate at the Promanade Deck cafe and the food was not so great..the rolls with our dinner were obviously day old at least...the salad kind of a "fast food" dry salad, the prime rib was way tooo fatty, but the brownie desert was great! Breakfast the next morning, mundane and again the breads and pastries were hard, probably 3 days old at least! Don't recomment the restaurants, get off the ship and enjoy some of the outstanding restaurants in Long Beach!

Trip Type: Business Review 11 of 75History at a small price
While the Queen Mary is showing here age, she remains a grande dame of the ocean and the inconveniences of location, few amenities and being well worn around the edges are worth the sense of history that goes with the space.

Trip Type: Business Review 12 of 75Isolated Location
This hotel is old, so anyone wanting modern accommodations should look elsewhere. The location is on the water (it is a ship, after all) but it is not within walking distance of anything. There is a free shuttle that takes guests into town, so that is helpful. Staff was pleasant. Parking lot is huge. The ship hosts large events such as weddings and parties, so the public areas can be crowded during those times. The ship has an interesting history, but one can tour the public areas without booking a room. I would recommend this hotel to someone attending an event on the ship so they would not have to drive after the party was over.
