Outstanding Hotel

This was my 2nd time staying at The Pelican Grand and trust me it won't be my last !!! The staff is always pleasant and helpful. I will be back next year.

Relaxing and beautiful

For a relaxing vacation, this hotel was a great choice. It has easy access to the beach and a great pool. Our ocean front room had an amazing view! The hotel was clean and the staff helpful for recommendations of local activities. We spent most of our days on the beach and took a taxi to dinners in town. It's a $10-$15 taxi ride one way to most destinations. However, if you are doing a lot of activites away from the beach, it would be better to rent a car (just watch out for the overnight parking charge)! I would absolutely return to this hotel for another stay!

Nothing in walking distance.

Good beach, great porch, nice suites with a sitting room and bedroom, really good food, and a nice lively bar. I was disappointed with the pool area as it was fairly small, didn't have an outside bar, and was in the shade most of the day, but the beach was nice. The only other disappointment was that lack of anything within walking distance. Either stay at the hotel or take a cab for shopping or dining. Although the food in both the bar and the restaurant had a nice selection and was very good. I did love the huge porch (off the lobby) with all the comfortable seating for outdoor dining, reading, playing cards, or just enjoying drinks with friends.

Awesome Hotel

I was having a hard time finding a hotel that did not have any negative reviews, and this was the only one I could find. Our stay echoed those wonderful reviews. The hotel was nice, the pool was nice, the lazy river was awesome, and the beach was nice. But the staff was amazing. They knew us by name from the moment we arrived, and remembered us the entire time we were there, and the hotel was fully booked! They were quick with a recommendation for dinner or entertaiment outside the hotel, and quick with compliments. The food was wonderful, and everyone we came in contact with, from the conceierge to the life guards to the waiters to the bell hop to the cleaning staff, everyone was nice and friendly and happy. We will definately stay again and again!

PERFECT GETAWAY

This is the second year that we have stayed in this hotel - it takes us back to another era - the veranda with the rocking chairs and lounge chairs are perfect to relax, have a drink, read a book, take a nap (our group did all of that), and the lazy river in their pool area is a great cooling experience after spending a few hours in the "almost private beach (the location is such that very vew people not staying in this hotel hang out here). I always recommend this hotel highly to all my friends and co-workers.

Excellent place to stay

Everything was wonderful ~ breakfast, the room & bed, staff, pool, lazy river, beach access, rocking chairs on the porch, & I could go on & on!! The only small thing was the lazy river around the pool needed some touch up paint & there were trash items in the landscaping that were there for 3 plus days. Overall, very relaxing & beautiful hotel -worth every penny.

Great Hotel, Super Food, Mediocre Beach

The hotel was lovely, quaint and very charming. The food was really superb and we were always very happy with the quality of food. My only complaint was that the beach was dirty. You'd think that the hotel staff would be out in the morning picking up trash (cups, straws, lids, etc), but they didn't. However, I am somewhat biased since we live in Sarasota and have the best beaches right here. Sue - Sarasota

Fantastic hotel!!!!!

I stayed at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort for a girls' weekend away from May 15-18th. It is a beautiful hotel, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Everyone went above and beyond. The rooms were spacious, clean and our queen, oceanfront suite had a fantastic view of the ocean. This is one of the few hotels in the area directly on the ocean. Yes, it is a little far (about 2 miles) from restaurants and nightlife, but the bellmen got us taxis quickly each night. The restaurant at the hotel was also very good, and the next time we stay there, we said there is really no need to leave this beautiful resort. The lazy river is very nice and a nice way to keep cool. The veranda with the rocking chairs is inviting and relaxing. I cannot wait to return, and we all highly recommend this beautiful resort.
