Beach hideaway

From the time we arrived untill check out we felt as if we had our own private island. Yes, it was not the busiest time of year but it was laid back. The staff is extremly helpful when you need them but work in the background out of your space. The location is killer, close to everything but far enough away where you don't feel like your staying on bourbon St. The valet parking is great, but is a pain if you forget your glasses in the car as you are not allowed in the parking garage. As a person who always tips, car in, car out, it can get expensive. The $25 a day parking fee for guests is also a bit much especially when guest parking is only $10. Overall great hotel, great staff and beautiful location make this a must stay if your looking for a resort style property. Just don't rent a car and park it on site or you will get annoyed. If you have kids it's great for them with the lazy river tube pool. Again, with kids on vacation you will need the car 50 times a day, and the valet will start to add up.

Great Spot For Kids

We brought our 4 and 6 year old boys. The hotel was upscale enough for Mom and Dad and laid back enough for the boys. Staff was above and beyond helpful and good to the kids. River pool was a blast. Beach was perfect for young children, clean, small waves and warm water. Loved everything about this hotel.

Great family vacation

The Pelican Grand is a nice hotel, providing a great family vacation. It is not within walking distance of anything, so you really need a car (or use a taxi) while there. The beach is narrow, but clean. Towels, chairs and umbreallas are provided on the beach at no extra charge. My boys (10 and 12) loved the lazy river, located near the pool. Would advise against the American breakfast plan, unless you like to eat eggs, pancakes and bacon every morning - not much in the way of making choices. The staff was great. Never met an employee who was not smiling. The desk will make dinner reservations for you, and most of the restaurants then offer you a free appitizer or dessert. The room (we had a 2 queen bed suite on 5th floor) was spacious, except for the shower/toilet area. The housekeeping staff made up the room early (if you put the tag on the door), but could have cleaned the floors better. Also some fabric furniture throughout the hotel should be replaced - stains or worn out. I would certainly return.

Greaat Hotel

This was a great choice. Locaation was terrific. We had adults and little kids, and the adults were veery comfortable and the kids loved the"river" pool. I will go there again, and take some of the other grandchildren. Summer rates made it possible.

Outstanding Hotel

Our hotel stay was great! If you have kids they whe will love the lazy river pool. The staff was friendly and available. I would highly recommend this hotel to others.

Don't waste your time on the bad reviews! See for yourself!!

I admit when I read reviews I focus too much on the bad ones.However, I have to say that the people who posted negative comments on this hotel must have been having a bad day. The number one negative complaint,I read, of the hotel is that the food is expensive. Duh, it's a hotel. I have never seen a luxury hotel, especially one on the beach, that didn't have expensive food. The other one I read on this particular hotel was the service. I have to say that the service in this hotel was above and beyond fantastic. From the moment we stepped out of our car we were greeted and treated great. Their were 6 of us, 2 adults and 4 kids, and everywhere we went we were acknowledged and asked how we were doing. From the people serving drinks around the pool and beach to the men and women cleaning the floors in the hotel. Everyone was smiling and making sure we were being taken care of. To make it easier I am making a list of Pros and Cons. Pros: Huge, clean rooms! Ton's of storage for your stuff. After a day at the beach with four kids there was sand everywhere in the room. When we came back to our room after it had been cleaned you would have never known. Very friendly staff! Location,location, location. Steps from a beautifully, cleaned beach where the water is transparent and free of rocks and seaweed. There are lounge chairs and umbrellas for everyone and a nice lifeguard on the beach who is very attentive to your needs. You can dine outside on the porch along the beach. The pool area is super clean and the Lazy River was a huge hit with the kids. The best part, in my opinion, was laying in a raft in the ocean and having a cocktail waitress bringing drinks to the waters edge for me. Does it get any better??? Cons: You have to valet or feed meters all day. You have to drive to go anywhere. No restaurants really in walking distance.

Best Hotel Ever

We do a lot of travelling to FL and this was the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff were exceptional from the porter to the guy on the beach who helped with towels and umbrellas. Room was excellent (Ocean Front Queen Suite) lots of room (2 adults and 2 teens)and very comfortable. We didn't have a car on this stay and walked to restaurants, ate at the hotel or took the bus to Las Olas Blvd. Would definately stay here again and recommend it to all.

hidden charges

Great hotel, however they failed to tell me about the costs of $24 per day for parking my car. David, the clerk at checkout didn't even try to be accommodating or offer a supervisor to come and talk with me. Won't be back. Too many other hotels that are up front with their charges.

Fantastic Getaway

I needed a quick escape to re-connect with my two young kids and this hotel was PERFECT for us. We swam for hours, I drank beer and margaritas for hours, and we rocked on the patio and watched the sunset for hours! GREAT place!!!!

Great hotel

Nice clean spacious rooms, with a great view of the ocean ,attentive service too. Hotel location was not within walking distance of much, but an easy drive.
