Hotels.com: Pelican Grand Beach Resort, Fort Lauderdale, FL

The service was very good. The room was small, the t.v. wasn't even a flat screen t.v. for what we paid, I would've expected a higher class room and furniture.The first night we froze, the heater did not work. The second night we had to ask housekeeping for a blanket because there wasn't an extra one in the bedroom. The attached restaurant was very good. The outside deck with rocking chairs facing the ocean were very quaint and comfortable.

Great location....old decor

This hotel, as most hotels do, lure you with their grandious lobby. The rooms were antinque"ish" at best and the smell was equally "non refreshing." The fact that you are right on the ocean is great and the view is outstanding. Do not plan on spending much time in your room. The televisions were tubes versus flat screens. If you brought along your ipod, as I did, hoping to drop it into a docking station and listen to some of your fav tunes......forget it! Needs more upgrades. Although we spent most of our time on the beach and around the pool...the interior was quite a disappointment for such a four star rated hotel.

Third year in a row that we've come to the Pelican. Once again, a wonderful time. The whole staff does a great job, from the registration desk to the valet service to the guys on the beach.The parking is pricey but is offset by free beach umbrellas which used to be $15.00 a day. The breakfast buffet is gone but the full American breakfast is just fine and I didn't gain 10 pounds. See you next year!!!

This is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at. This is our 2nd time going there. However when we got there we had to wait over 2 hours for our room. That was not the big deal, the manager just kept telling us "10 -15 minutes." It really frustrated us. Anyway they gave us a $50 food credit and we were ok! Great hotel right on the water over looking the ocean with a great patio room. Just great!

We loved the hotel and access to the beach. The chairs and umbrellas were included at no extra cost. Our room was clean except for a couple of carpet stains. The bed was very comfortale and the view was awesome! We took a cab from the airport to avoid the parking fees. We ended up walking about 10 blocks north to find the water taxi off 30th street with nearby bars and restaurants, Walgreens and a Greek Resaurant on 32nd. Nice neighorhoods to walk day and night we went one block over to get off of the A1A. Quiet at night and very peaceful. We also had the breakfast package. We were able to substitute and order just what we wanted. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We would love go back again!

This hotel was absolutely beautiful! Pictures do not do it justice. The beaches were fantastic! Lots of beautiful sand and smooth water to play in! There is a large covered porch facing the beach with rows of rocking chairs. Long story short, I could have rocked myself to sleep out there! I can't say enough about the staff from the front desk clerk to the waitress in the hotel dining room. They were very friendly and accomodating. Without even asking, they upgraded us to a room with a private balcony overlooking the ocean. We were greeted with a smile everywhere we went! Again, can't say enough about it. I'm very particular about service and I would recommend the hotel to anyone!

It was a great Hotel, great Service, clean rooms, nice people, just keep in mind the following: 1. If you are a Smoker and they catch you ANYWHERE on the premises or the Balcony smoking the fine is $250 2. The Restaurant food is horrible! 3. The ATM charges $6 Fee 4. there is not store or gas station anywhere in walking distance! But besides that, the restaurant and service is awesome, amazing beach!

Not What It Used To Be

After paying $25 to park car we had to wait 3 hours for our room to be ready and recieved the noisiest room in front of elevator. We used the restrooms in the lobby that were of truck stop quality. We went to use heated pool that was cold and there weren't enough floats for the lazy river. We ordered a sandwich and fries that the waiter just dropped off and ran that wasn'r fresh. The breakfast buffet was under rated. Order hot tea and got cold water 2 times. For the price of this hotel it was very disappointing.

My husband and I recently stayed here for our honeymoon, and everything was perfect but the food at the restaurant. We felt that if you're going to be paying this much to stay, the food should be exquisite, but it was less than mediochre. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel, but eating off site.

We arrived shortly before 7pm and pulled right up to the front. My door was opened for me by a smiling valet/bellboy who greeted me warmly. My husband was driving and took care of giving the keys to the valet. Our luggage was taken to our room by the bellboy as soon as we checked in - which went rather quickly. Most everyone we encountered was extremely friendly. There was one waitress who seemed to not pay any attention to us in the bar...maybe because we look younger than we actual are...who knows, but she avoided us twice during our stay. Our hotel room was really big and really nice. We enjoyed sitting on the little couch and looking outside (we were on the 10th floor) The room had a mini fridge and a microwave. I wished it would have had a dresser to put my clothes in, but that would be my only complaint about the room. The drink machine "ate" my husband's money twice so we bought drinks downstairs or went to a convenience store for sodas, etc. The beach was beautiful! I enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs each morning and watching the sunrise. We'll definitely be back.
