Pelican Grand Beach Resort

Excellent value and location

We had a wonderful time at this hotel. The staff were very friendly; the key west decor was very warm and inviting. Enjoyed the verandah with rocking chairs facing ocean. The hotel restaurant food was very good. Room size was large and unique with separate sitting area.

Great for a Short Family Outing

We needed a place to stay in Ft. Lauderdale for one night at the end of the cruise from Miami. This hotel was a little more expensive than most but I think it was worth it. We were attracted to the "lazy river" that other guests said "kids love it" and that it looked quite attrative from the picture. They were very nice to us giving us an early check-in and late check-out which we really apppreciated. We are a mother and father and three children. Our kids did really love the lazy river -- so did we. The one caveat I have is that it's really nice for a short stay. I don't think I would want to stay for a whole week -- as the other reviews said there's nothing to do nearby. But it's really terrific for a short trip. Rooms are really pretty and everyone is nice but I would want to eat all my meals in the hotel for probably no more than two days.

Great Value

We've stayed at this hotel before & we always stay there when in the Ft. Lauderdale area. The staff is very accomodating. On the other hand, they don't really keep up on small maintenance issues. Like, the shower nozzle coming off right in my hand & the tricks needed to completely shut the water off in the shower. All in all it is a great place & the location is primo.

Great hotel. but, pricey.

Hotel and rooms are great. food. average and expensive. the $24.00 per day for parking seems to be the norm in fl. also,there is no free news paper.

Pelican Grand is Grand

I chose this hotel from a list with a picture. It turned out that the picture was accurate, but the hotel was much more than that. The location is right on the beach at a fantastic location. The hotel also has a comfortable pool and a little lazy river. There is a cozy restaurant and we had breakfast for two included in the price. There is also an ice cream parlor and a bar & grill. We stayed for only one night after a one week cruise, but would have stayed much longer had I known what a terrific hotel this was. I think all rooms are suite size with ocean balcony. I will certainly return here.

Exceptional Staff and location

This was my second stay at this hotel and we continue to love the location and staff. Everyone is friendly, couteous and willing to cheerfully accomodate reasonable requests. The location is a bit inconvenient for Convention Center events like the Taekwon Do Nationals, but the beach, pool and amenities are worth the extra travel time. There is no self-parking (all valet) and a per day garage charge so it is actually cheaper to take taxis rather than rent a car. I did notice some deferred maintenance this time that I didn't see 2 years ago, but maintenace staff were working daily on these items. All in all, we will happily return next year.

Everything about this hotel was Fabulous! Beautiful views, rooms, location, the Food, I cannot recommend this hotel enough!

the lobbie and resturant were great. But the rooms were a little strange. Out dated tile in the entrance, stained carpet. Furniture that needed to be redone. A second tv that had very few channels. They were trying very hard to be five star, they just need to redo the floors

Beautiful hotel but everything very pricey

The hotel was beautiful, clean large rooms with not your typical hotel furniture. The breakfast buffet was awful. The omelet station is gone and you're left with stale and cold scrambled eggs and hard french toast. The price of drinks at the bar were outrageous! The price of daily valet parking has doubled since last year! This has always been our favorite hotel in Fort Lauderdale but will try someplace else next year.

Great Family Hotel

We just needed a couple of rooms for Thursday and Friday nights. Because of this, we were able to get fantastic prices for two king suites. These are suites that both have 2 king beds. Wow! Food and drink on the premises are reasonable, the hotel is right on a private beach, and the pool and lazy river are great. Our only problem is that our suite's carpet had been shampooed prior to our visit and was still slightly damp 2 days later. Otherwise, we were very satisfied!

Exceeded our expectations

Booking a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale for a family of 4 during spring break was, I thought, going to be a little tricky. I didn't want the college spring break experience for my teenagers quite yet. Well the Pelican Grand Beach Resort was beyond what we expected. The value for the money was great. The room was in very good and the view of the ocean/beach was awesome. Having the hotel on the beach (instead of across the street) made the stay perfect. While we didn't eat at the restaurant, and it was a bit of a walk to other ones in the area - we didn't mind because we got to walk on the beach and relax after our meal. The staff was courteous, prompt, and quite helpful. I'd stay here again.

Outstanding

First impression of staff not to great ! But once we got to our room, we were totally satisfied. Rooms were very large with 12 foot ceilings. Ocean and pool view from balcony!
