This place was extremely disappointing. When I walked in the door after checking in I kicked a giant dead beetle that was about two inches big. Then I saw another giant beetle in the sink in the middle of the night and I do not know if they were cockroaches or not either way I am disgusted. The shower was so small I could barely turn around in it, the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, and the entire place smelled of institutional disinfectant. Again, ew.

It is what it is...

You get what you pay for. This is not a Marriott or Hilton. In fact, I was told by one of the OBX locals that this hotel is one of the original three on the strip... That said, the service was stellar (the front office was closed when we arrived, but they had the key in an accessible location in anticipation of our arrival). Couldn't fault the room cleanliness at all. We had a fridge and a microwave (but no coffee pot). The bed spread was a little uncomfortable, and the air conditioner seemed to take some work to get it going. Note to technogeeks: No wifi, at least on the Westside rooms we stayed at. They're inexpensive, reliable, no-frills, and (best part) across the street from the beach. If we went down to vacation in that area again, they would be a prime consideration.

Got what I paid for.

I searched for the cheapest hotel I could find and I found Owen's. The first day there I walked into the bathroom and fell in a puddle of toilet water that had leaked all over the floor. They upgraded us after that, but then our room keys stopped working several times. The room had cobwebs in the corners, and bugs on the floor and window sills. I guess I got what I paid for, which wasn't much. We managed to have a fantastic vacation regardless of the hotel situation.

Great room for the money

Nothing fancy but the room was clean and the price was right. Good location for shopping, eating, beach, etc. We'd definitely stay here again.

NICE PLACE FOR THE MONEY!

I stayed there one night with friend of mines! we booked to rooms, roms were clean and nice! so i liked it, i didnt regret for going there!

Not bad

I felt safe, the staff was very nice, and the location was fantastic. It was a little pricey, and the table looked dirty. Like someone had spilt soda or beer and it had not been cleaned. Other then that table everything else looked clean. I would stay here again.

Remove Coffee Pots from Rooms Needs Improvement

No coffee available for rooms but, rooms have coffee pots. Also paid for Kingsize bed and was given (2) doubles without receiving a refund.

great location

Great location right across from the beach and across from shopping outlet! When me and my boyfriend first got there we stripped the beds to check for bugs. We do this at every hotel honestly. Well in one bug we found a "silver fish" type bug crawling on the pillow! i FREAKED! we just didnt sleep in that bed at all. There was another problem that could have been from annoying children that were staying near us. We put out the "please clean our room" but when we came back he was flipped to "do not disturb." so then we flipped it around again, and when we came back...it was flipped back to "do not disturb." This could have been the staff being lazy..or just the kids staying a few doors down from us. Who knows.

no phones in the rooms

The rooms didn't have phones, the pillows were the most uncomfortable things ever, (the mattress was a close second) the kitchen sink made gurgling noises in the middle of the night, there was no way to block the front porch lights from coming in the window and keeping us up all night. You could hear everything going on in the rooms around you and there was dry blood on my pillow case.

A lovely little place!!!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel.The place was very cozy,felt as if we were staying in an apartment.Beautiful walls!Bed was very comfortable!!! The service was excellent..Great bargain, We will visit again.
