Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 23Great Service
We enjoyed our stay. The service was great. The first room we stayed in had an ant problem. The hotel moved us immediately and upgraded our view. We enjoyed the bicycle ride on the strand with the hotels bicycles.

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 23Parking is an issue
Parking charge of $20 which is not transparent when you checkin. The room descriptions/pictures not consistent with actual room we stayed. The shower was excellent and great location.

Great place, especially if you have a ocean view room. Staff is very polite and helpful. Only bad part is that they charge you $20 a day to park. I found this ridiculous.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 23Impressive Hotel
The property was very well kept. Every one who worked there were courtious & helpful. Really liked the soft beds & feather pillows. I had two teenage daughters with us and had just enough room. Considering we had a discount rate for our stay by booking early on hotels.com it was worth the price. The $18.00 a day to park should be less or non at all for guests staying at the hotel. Did not like having refreshments, snacks etc. as they were way overpriced plus I had to do an inventory of each item in the room so that we were not charged for anything that might not have been in the room. The snack basket did not have a couple items listed so we called the front desk & requested that everything be taken out of the room as we did not want to be responsible for anything. The convenience of the hotel location made our 4th of July firework display enjoyable. Liked the view of the ocean, the pathways to the pier and the complimentary bikes to ride on the paths.

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 23good-
hotel was nice, staff was outstanding. We had some noisy neighbors and called the staff to quiet them down. Took two calls, but they did take care of it and the rest of the night was quiet. A few small complaints- there was a dead fly squished on the wall above the bed, and the drain in the tub was rusty. The pool and spa were very nice (small, but nice)and the grounds/ landscaping are beautiful. All said, a nice place. Would probably stay again.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 23Wonderful experience, some areas to improve"
Hotel rooms and staff were great. Free bike rental was fun and definitely a nice perk for the area. They could improve internet access by going wireless and even better if they made it free. Parking was $20 a night but having valet service and security made it bearable. Room layout was very nice and very clean. You can see they they have spent time and money to improve the space and maintain it. Baleen hotel seemed a little expensive so we went to other local areas. Plenty of placed within walking distance. Staff worked hard to meet every expectation of the guests and really cared for them. We will stay here again.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 23Excellent hotel !
visiting from the UK, we had an excellent stay here. All of the staff were very friendly, and the service was very good. It is in a great location for visiting all that the Los Angeles area has to offer. Having 2 children who prefer to swim in a pool rather than the sea, I just wish the pool area and the pool itself were a little larger.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 23Good price, great location.
It was great being so close to the water, (although it was not on the beach) and the view of the marina was nice. The room itself for a family of 4 was very cramped. It was a challenge even for my 15 and 12 year old girls to sleep comfortly in the double bed they had to sleep on. It was real hard for my wife and I to share the bed because of its size. The hot tub and pool (which were small) were closed for 2 of the four days that we stayed there. I would stay there again if the sleeping situation was better. Great restaurants in the immediate area. Free bikes to cruise the beach.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 23TO MUCH EXPENSIVE FOR THE OUTCOME
IT'S VERY GOOD LOCATED AND WITH A VERY NICE ENTRANCE. EXCELLENT SERVICES FROM THE GUYS AT VALET PARKING. THE SERVICE AT RECEPTION NEEDS SOME IMPROVEMENT. ROOM ARE VERY, VERY SMALL AND BEDS ARE VERY, VERY, VERY, SMALL AS WELL. NOT RECOMMENDED ONE ROOM FOR A FAMILY OF FOUR. VERY CONVENIENCE LOCATION FOR DINNERS AT RESTAURANTS CLOSE TO THE HOTEL AT FISHERMAN WARF (WALKING DISTANCE). IN SUMMARY: TOO EXPENSIVE FOR SMALL ROOM WITH VERY SMALL BEDS?

Guests should be aware that the "Marina View" from the first floor may be limitied - second or third floor rooms have better views. The same is true for the "Ocean view" as the first floor rooms have a significant view of the retaining wall.

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 23"Great view"
The view from an upperlevel oceanside room is beautiful. The ground floor rooms might not get the whole good view of the ocean because of the long rock wall. The room is small but clean and has nice decor. There are only two very small drawers inside the TV cabinet and a small closet, so not much storage space for more than one person. The bathroom is also small but very clean and nice with the marble bath and floor. The sink area is very very small. In all, the room and bath are compact, but the ocean view is wonderful. The sea lions were not noisy during our stay. The front desk staff were nice, but not cordial. The surrounding areas outside the hotel provide plenty of restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. We think if you don't mind the compact size, and like a good view, then this is the hotel you would want to stay at.

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 23Best Service
I travel and stay at hotels 3 weeks/month. The Portofino had by far the best service I've seen anywhere. They proactively bent over backwards to make my vacation with my children easy, fun and enjoyable. They remembered all our names from the first introduction, gave my kids free snacks in the early am to tide them over for breakfast, recommended places to go and then asked about our time afterward! And this is just a few examples of their service. I'd go back again just to get this special treatment.

Trip Type: Family Review 15 of 23Great value, great location
The Portofino was a great experience for our family. The room was a bit small with two teenagers but that was the only downside to an otherwise great stay. The pool area was small but quaint with a tremendous view and the sound of barking seals. The location was excellent, being walking or biking distance too great beaches. The free bike rentals were one of the best aspects of our stay. Use them frequently and enjoy thebeachfront and ocean.
