Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 98Okay, but not worth the money.
Beautiful hotel, but doesn't have a lot to offer for the price. Sheets and pillowcases in the room had stains on them, TV remote would not function properly. Valet service truly needs improvement. We payed quite a bit for overnight parking, and it took them almost an hour to bring our car to us when we needed to leave. When we asked to find out what was taking so long, we got tossed back and forth between bell hop and front desk, with no answers.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 6 of 98poor service
After reserving our room at the Fairmount I called to request a crib, refrigerator and adjoining or at least a close room to friends of ours. While I know these things cannot be guaranteed the person I spoke with on the phone assured us that she had lined up 2 rooms together and the crib wouldn't be a problem but the refrigerator was first come first served, which I totally understand. We arrived early for check in and if we were willing to wait we could have our adjoining room so we waited. When we finally did check in we were 3 floors away. The front desk had told our friend that we insisted on checking in early so they had to move our room. After waiting for our room they told us that it was our friend who insisted on checking in early so we were moved. Neither of us checked in until after 3 pm. After getting to our room it took 45 minutes for them to bring our bags up, a separate call to get the crib (which they informed me that it was my responsibility to remind the front desk to call housekeeping). Other than that, the hotel was clean and in a good location for what we wanted to do. We will stay elsewhere next time as it is not a kid friendly place. (which it does not bill itself to be, so not their fault..)Probably would be nice for a couple. Keep in mind that parking at the hotel is $49/night and a continental breakfast is $19/person.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 9 of 98One Little Thing...
I called ahead on a Friday to request early check-in on Sunday. The woman on the phone told me my room was already ready and that I had nothing to worry about. It seemed strange to me that a room would be ready 2 days early, so I repeated my question and she assured me that I would have no trouble checking in early. When I arrived around 11am, the front desk told me that the room was not ready and that I would have to wait. After I explained my situation, they had no solution for me and I was forced to wander the city aimless (I had never been to Chicago before) for a few hours while they got the room ready. I returned 2 hours later and the room was still not ready, so they stuck me in the lounge for another half hour or so. That was awfully frustrating. OTHERWISE, my stay was amazing and the hotel was wonderful. Everyone was very helpful and responsive, etc. I am only sorry the early issue was not resolved more favorably!

Great hotel! Loved the moderness of the hotel and the price was great. Staff was very helpful with providing directions and recommendations during our weekend trip. Will definitely stay at the Fairmont again when in Chicago.
