Custom Hotel

Simple,Comfort.

My Boyfriend and I love this Hotel. We live in town and try to "get away" once a week. We try tostay here because it's close, comfortable, and worth the price. If your looking for alot of extras this is not a place for you, but for a comfortable,casual place to hang out and chill for a night, then for sure. Parking is expensive, so try to find street parking,other then that you can go next door tothe store for food, or walk down the block to a few really tasty resturants and eitther eat there or take back to your room and hang out. There is a resturant, but we haven't tried it yet, thought it always looks and sounds fairly busy most weekends, so I assume it's pretty good. The pool is very small, so actual swimming is not possible. However if the weather is nice the pool area is a great place to lay out and lounge, with the bar and grill attached. I love it there. No frills. But friendly people.

Fun for a Younger Crowd

We love the Custom and stay whenever we need a little getaway...

fun place to party...but that's about it

We stayed in this hotel for two nights. the hotel had modern furniture which we liked. very clean. the bed was not comfortable and the rooms were REALLY small. We could hear people in the hallway late at night when we were sleeping. The hotel has a pool which was very tiny but the atmosphere was really fun (think mini vegas). There were beautiful patio lounge chairs, patioe beds, a bar, and a DJ booth. The DJ's played in the evening on our first night and then started around noon the 2nd day. There was some party for a football player (the hotel had apparently promoted it) and guests came from outside the hotel. Kinda weird but fun I guess. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for kids or families or couples looking for much romance. But we did have fun partying. Would recommend hotel for that reason. The staff was very courteous but the check-in time is not until 3pm. plan your flight accordingly!!

Needs Improvement

Parking is only valet for $22 per night!! Beds were not comfortable. Linens were not soft. Fridge was too small. Toilet leaked. Staff was cranky.

How did this hotel win the BusinessWeek best business hotel award is mind bogeling. The rooms are tiny, but the location is OK if you are into the marina.

Silly Rabbit, This hotel is for kids!

We were looking forward to celebrating our anniversary in the "cool" beach climate of the Los Angeles coast, so we found a great deal on a 2 nights stay at the "trendy" and "chic" Custom Hotel. We read other reviews that were both bad and good, but we decided to have our own experience with this Hotel. We knew about the expensive valet parking ahead of time so we decided that we would park away from the Hotel, because we didn't plan to spend alot of time in the Hotel. Beware that you can load and unload your vehicle in front of the hotel, but you must park on the other side of the super market parking lot next door. We arrived 10 minutes before check-in time and took advantage of the very trendy lobby lavatory. It was nice and different. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust to the dim room before I could use the lavatory (restroom). Upon checking in I was asked for my name, ID, and the credit card I used for my reservation. I was a little hesitant to give my credit card because my hotel expenses had already been collected. The clerk assured me that this was only a step in the hotel's check-in policy, so I complied. He even made sure not to have me initial the line on the check-in slip that allows them to charge my card for any additional hotel services and I didn't. I ended up having to cart my bags up to the 5th floor, because no bell hop was available. We went to our room and freshened up for the rest of our day away from the hotel. On our way out I had a notion to ask the clerk who had just come in on a shift change about the hotel breakfast and the hotel credit card policy. She then informed me that my card was on file and $100 would be on hold until checkout for incidental damages or charges. This knowledge bothered me for a moment, because I had not signed for them to take such action, but I decided to make the most of my weekend. She also informed me that we must return to the front desk the next morning to receive our breakfast vouchers. At this point I wa

WONDERFUL USE OF SPACE WITH NATURAL LIGHTING. COULD USE BETTER LIGHTS FOR EVENING USE BUT ROMANTIC THE WAY IT IS.

Decent

Trendy place, the rooms were interesting and clean. You have to pay to valet park your car. Not really a great area, but centrally located. No breakfast or coffee. Funky place, but pretty barebones.

Just OK

Small room. Windows were so dirty you could barely see outside. Bar service was horrible (not the fault of the bartender, just not enough staff), but walked across the street to a good bar called Thompkin's Square. The bed was comfy, the inside of the room was clean. Odd decorating brought a touch of humor.

Good Hotel for the Price

The room was a bit smaller than expected but overall it was comfortable.

Greatly exceeded our expectations!

We absolutely loved the hotel. Not only was it our style (we are in our late twenty's), the service was wonderful. The front desk was fast, friendly, and informative. The steak house that was recommended to us by the front desk, was the best steak we have ever had! Yes, the lobby does get crowded at night with young people drinking from the bar, and the elevators do have large photos of faces and strange recorded sounds suddenly come out of the elevators, but it made the hotel what it is. It is modern styled and very comfortable. We will definitely go again and recommend it to all our friends.

Creepy

This hotel gave me the creeps! Did not sleep well at all!!! Everything is dimly lit with red light bulds, and the hallway to the room is painted really dark gray. The elevators are completely black with a large picture of someone's face staring at you when you get in. We stayed for two nights and on the second night they ran out of face towels and we had to wait for someone to come in and bring some clean ones. Not cool! It was a good price per night even though the parking is $22 a night, however, I would have much rather paid more with out the creeps.
