Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 283Good value
This was a good hotel for the money, and the restauraunt and bar (and minimum bets for the casino) were much less expensive than the nicer hotels on the strip. It is certainly not as awe-inspiring as the nicer hotels, although the pool area was nice and there is a large hot-tub that was pleasant. You stay here for the low cost, and get a clean room (although I was in 3 different rooms and all of the bathtubs were chipped) with a decent bed. It is a pretty long walk to the more famous area of the strip - maybe 30 minutes - although it won't seem so far once some of the construction that is going on is finished and there isn't so much empty pace between the hotel and the rest of the strip. There is also a 24 hour bus that costs $7 for the day or $3 round-trip, the monorail that has a stop at the Sahara, and taxis which cost about $10 each way from the hotel to the strip (for a 5 minute ride it's pretty expensive). Also, parking is free pretty much everywhere because they want you to come in and gamble, so if you have a rental car, no worries.

Welcome back to 'old-style' Vegas, Baby! Love the cool, campy feeling of the Sahara. The northern-most monorail station is located right at the back of the Sahara, so it makes the whole strip accessible. The staff was very accomodating, friendly and helpful. Will definitely hate to see this old gal go the way of the Stardust & the rest!

Just a regular hotel, outdated and needs improvement. We asked for a king bed and we got two full size beds. The bathtub drain is clogged and a few things were missing. Not coming back for sure.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 283Tired but cheap
This hotel offered a wonderful pool, and fairly good casino. The buffet was sorely lacking. The room was very tired, with the wallpaper peeling off the walls. The furniture was pretty scarred up. The service was wonderful though and for the money, you really can't ask for much.

This hotel seemed scary. I stayed there as a child 20 years ago on trips as a child with my dad and I remember it being a nice hotel. The Sahara has really gone downhill since. As an adult going on trips for 10 years to Vegas this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. When we checked in it was an hour wait in line just to check into our room. I could understand if this were a busy holiday weekend but not for a Sunday night stay. I have never had this experience at any hotel ever. The room we got looked like it was run down, stains on the carpet and the rom was not clean. I had to request another room to stay in. It took 3 hours before they put us in a cleaner room. My girlfriend was put in a bad mood after all of this and it put a damper on us the rest of the night. Overall the hotel and casino staff were rude. Even other quests shared the same opinions with us and how they would never come back to stay. It was a lot different compared to how nice it used to be staying there as a child. It is sad to see how much they have let the place go downhill so much.

The room was much bigger than we expected. Loved the balcony and the view.

The Sahara was a wonderful hotel for the limited budget we were working on . The pool was very large -and Clean. We got free tickets to the Dinner Buffet-which was terrific. We also went to the Magic show with Rick Thomas- AWESOME!!Then we went on the Nascar Cafe's rollercoaster ride called Speed- AWESOME!! Casino floor was adequate with plenty of gaming tables/slots etc. I took a little beating but the wife won 300.00 on slots. The Sahara is next to the monorail and you can ride that up and down the strip to other Casinos/hotels/shopping outlets for about 10.00 round trip or you can purchase a unlimited ride pass for a little more. All in all we had a good time here, and we would stay here again and also recommend it to others. Only negative was the a/c in the room was controlled by hotel- Not us. It was a little warmer than we're used to- so we stayed out of the room as much as possible- and stayed naked most of the time in the room !! Have Fun !!

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 283Customer Care......No They Don't
We checked into our room at 1:00 A.M. My wife wanted to take a shower before bed, water was hot only(scalding). I called desk and was told they could not do anything until morning "sometime". I asked if they could move us was told no rooms available. I told them " we will just check-out and go and take a refund". Management was fine with us leaving, pissed off, at 2:00 in the morning. We told them they need to find us alternate lodging, low and behold, they found a room. I took it only because we we're tired. It was a dump too, but, we could at least shower. Customer care was horrible. Nice roller coaster though.
