The hotel was nasty. The door to our room did not seal shut. You could stick your fingers through the crack. The bathroom was not very clean and the beds were not comfortable at all. The only thing that was nice about the hole thing was the lobby. It was also kinda far to walk to the river.

Ok, so maybe its a shady area of town. maybe there are drug dealers all around. if your just going to new orleans to get drunk and have a place to pass out. this is the place. stayed on 420 and staying again very very soon. worth the money imo. i reccomend to people in my age area. im 21 and loved it. enjoy.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 70It was suffiicant
The paneling was coming off of the door to the bathroom. I couldn't get the hot water to work. The huge neon sax on the wall was really cool but i wish all the lights had worked. It would have looked much better. Overall it was a place with an air conditioner, a clean bed and a lock on the door.

Mold all throughout the room. The bottom of the tub was black. Prostitutes were outside the hotel door, and chased my boyfriend down the hall trying to "get his business" Someone was shot outside the hotel our first night there, Dominoes wouldn't deliver after dark because of the dangerous neighborhood it was in. Literally there were crack dealers down the hall from our room. And the room looks absolutely nothing like the pictures. Please DO NOT come here none of the above is an exaggeration. This was all real, we changed hotels immediately! DO NOT BRING YOUR FAMILY HERE!!!!!

If you plan on visiting New Orleans any time soon with your family or friends. Please stay far away from the Canal Street Hotel. The staff we observed to be very rude. The hotel ran completley out of towels. There were roaches and bugs in the room amongst many other things. This is more of a motel.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 70Do Not Stay at this HOTEL
The air conditions for the rooms are on the inside of the hotel causing the inside of the hotel to be unbarably HOT. The room was cool. The TV remote did not work. I was supposed to have a queen size bed. When I saw the standard double bed I called the front desk. They told me this is what they consider a Queen bed. and if was not enough I could upgrade to a KING. The bathroom shower had no water pressure. The tiles in the bathroom were broken and falling apart. The walls were nasty and black, very unclean. They were supposed to have a pool on the third floor... no one could find it! This hotel is supposed to be under construction. However all we could see was that they are painting over the dirty walls. Also, the bathroom window is so close to the interstate that it stays very loud in the room.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 70Great room for the money
After reading some of the reviews I was skeptical on staying at this hotel. I was plesantly surprised. It was not the dump that I half expected it to be. Walking through the strange hallway to our room felt like a sauna with hot air blowing out at you, but the room was nice and cool. The tub drain blocked up, but they fixed it. The room was comfortable and clean. The area is a bit detached from the French Quarter. Even being two ladies staying by ourselves walking through the area to the Quarter was not too bad during the day, not too bad at night either; but we mostly opted to catch a trolley or 8 dollar cab ride to where we needed to be. I would stay there again, for the money I saved.

It was ok. The lady at the desk was nice; however the manager seemed to take every incident in the hotel personal. The room was clean, no bugs or awful smell. You can see where the restoration of the hotel needs to be done but you get what you payed for.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 70Great Location, Great Price
This hotel is about a ten minute walk from Bourbon St. and the French Quarter (which is awesome since parking at the hotel is only about $12) and the rooms are super cheap. Moreover, the staff is very friendly (they actually recognize me now--I've stayed there about 4 times in the last 6 months). The hotel is a bit banged up, but the rooms themselves are clean. Also, the neighborhood is a bit sketchy, but unless you're staying in the heart of the Quarter, that's to be expected. In short, the hotel is by no means classy, but I've been more than satisfied for the price.

It was very run down, but for such a great price what do you expect. The sheets and towels were clean, but every thing else was stained. The room was quiet, and nobody bothered us.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 13 of 70Are you kidding me!!!!!!!
This has to be the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Even with the price paid, this place is uninhabitable. I strongly DO NOT recommend it. People loitering thru out the night with excessive noise.

You get exactly what you paid for which is sketchy people, dirty rooms and a restless night. Stayed with college friends who wanted to have an adventure and we definatly did, fear for our lives that is. Pretty good location relative to Bourbon Street do not stay alone and do not stay if you are a group of girls only. Stayed for two nights and could not wait to leave. You will get no sleep because there is so much noise made by the sketchy people staying there. Bathroom doors didnt lock, bathwater wouldnt drain, and you can make a game out of trying to figure out what all the stains in the rooms came from.
