Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 29A fun Hotel and Casino.
Golden Gate is basic with service, small simple rooms, but has a charm that we enjoy. This is our 5th stay at the Golden Gate, and will continue to stay there. Downtown Vegas is fun and you can get around, it beats the over tourist strip. And the Deli and cafe at the Golden Gate is always good and afordable. The free valet parking is worth it too.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 29Just OK for sleeping
Felt like a giant in the hallways and room. Room is small but decor was ok. Front desk was very friendly and the location on Freemont street was very good.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 29Very good hotel for the money.,
The room was small but comfortable. Very affordable. The in house food opportunities were good as well. The Fremont Experience was great! We had a very enjoyable time.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 29Room size
for those who are complaining about the size of the rooms ...common now its VEGAS baby .. If you doing more in your room than showering and sleeping your not doing something right . There is SOOOO much free stuff going on there should be NO reasons why your in your room more than 6-8 hours a night .I really like the nostailgic feel of the Gate.YOu could almost see how bustling this hotel was back in the heyday. we loved it and would surly stay there again

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 29A few ajustments needed
The location of this hotel is excellent. We came into Vegas early in the AM and we were able to check into our room. We were given a smoking room and could not even tell anyone was smoking. Fremont street at your door step. We could sit with the windows open and enjoy the summer of 69 show, live bands. The history of the hotel is Awesome. We asked if there were any odd things happening since it is the oldest hotel on Fremont. Ask and you shall get an interseting answer, depending on who is giving the answer, lol. The deli could use some healthy foods, such as fruits, salads, the shrimp cocktail is excellent. The Diner could also use an overhaul such as smaller portions for adults who do not eat as much,a kids menu, Turkey dishes, meatloaf, hearty foods, foods that stick to your ribs. On a bad note. On entering the hotel there was a musty/moldy smell to the location, it is present in the casino also, that is a turnoff. Carpets need to be removed, replaced or cleaned. Casino/Hotel staff friendly. I would stay again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 29Clean, neat small room, value for $!
This is a very nice hotel, considering the price... We literally got a steal! The room is VERY small, but neat and looks clean. Furniture are new, huge TV. And there were Neutrogena shampoo, conditioner, shower gel & soap in the bath room! The place is a little ghetto (and we had to park outdoor) but overall we had a great experience. They're right next to the Fremont St experience and yes, their shrimp cocktail is AWESOME for 2 bucks! Definitely cheaper than San Francisco! :-)

The rooms are small, but the beds were the most comfortable beds in Vegas. I was a great room for the price

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 29Perfect except the heat
Outstanding value and location. It has a great eatery and deli, has nice $5 tables for affordable gambling (golden nugget for high end gambling is a 30 second walk away). Room was big enough for me and my girlfriend (we travel in Europe alot, so the size did not bother us), and the t.v. was brand new. Our only complaint was the constant 80 degree heat in the room. The A/C blew a little cool, but it was 110 F outside, so I think the outside just would not let the inside cool down. They gave us a box fan, and that let us fall asleep without too much discomfort. Staff was very nice, and we appreciated the effort to cool down the room.
