Trip Type: With Friends Review 1 of 13Lowest price, and quality.
I got an awesome deal on the price of the hotel. Problem was they are remodeling so the room wasn't real bad, but the hallways smelled funky. The beds were hard, but the room was livable. Definatly a budget hotel, but once they finish the remodel it should be a nice looking hotel. And the BJ tables are great! Very nice dealers who make it a lot of fun

Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 13UNDER CONSTRUCTION REMODELING BUT CHEAP! PEOPLE ARE SUPER HERE!
As per the reviews and site before we purchased our stay at the Spike, they are remodeling and enlarging the hotel. It's true most of the rooms are outdated and in need of repair badly, but they are dirt cheap. Our room was clean and our house keeper Lenore was fantastic! The casino has been remodeled but the only thing we really didn't care for was all money is handpay,so you have to wait to be paid in person, even for a nickle.Be sure to say hi to Eugene on the floor he is also a Super nice guy! The people there make up for the outdated rooms and construction noise.Super service. The food in the newly remodeled grill is great and cheap! The waiter Ray is Superb. They also opened the new bar area on Superbowl Sunday or about then.I've been coming to the Gold spike for years and I love it here.We will be going back for sure.

I lived in Las Vegas for many years so i knew the Gold Spike was a sketchy hotel with a sketchy neighborhood. I was in visiting friends and it was a buddy and myself staying there so it was fine for our needs. I would recommend this hotel if it is the cheapest on hotels.com and it is for someone that is ok with being in a sketchy hotel in a sketchy part of town.

They are in the process of remodeling and have made a mess of the place. It smells bad. They do not have enough remote controls for the televisions in each room so if you check in late you will not get a remote control for your television.

the hotel is under renovations, however the "new" air conditioner did not work well at all, my husband and I ended up sleeping on top of the covers. we found a roach in our bathroom, and i thought the elevator was going to fall apart. the casino was very small, and when you cashed out you had to wait for someone to come and hand you money...they don't use the printed tickets... and even though we paid in full before arrival they still took my husbands credit card and put a hold on it...the only good thing was the staff did try to go out of their way to be helpful.

rooms were DIRTY, hot and stinky. Hotel is under construction..had scaffolding outside our window..no major construction noise was experienced. Aside from that staff was nice, bar was decently priced but poorly staffed..the best part about this hotel is that Rosati's pizza is located in the lobby:) Fremont st. exp is 1 block away and strip about 5 miles away...if u are exclusively needing a bed to sleep in and don't care about a grimmy bathroom..then do it.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 13Great room for the money
Had a very good experience with the room and the staff at this hotel. Found this hotel good if you are traveling town using the Las Vegas Bus system. It is located only two blocks from the DTC and Fremont Experience.

Staff needs customer training. Hotel is in the old part of Vegas. Neighborhood noise could be heard very clearly and it was loud. The hotel is being renovated and workers start very early in the am. The pillows and bed leave much to be desired. The sheets were not changed after the last occupants. If you don't want to sleep in your car reconsider.
