I booked this hotel because of the entertainment in the Liberty Bar. The hotel is elegant and very comfortable. Service was excellent. I enjoyed my stay.

When I arrived at this hotel for a 3 day stay I was expecting a really great hotel due to it's name and 4-star rating. The hotel is an aging one with the main public areas being very stately and inviting. The room was large and although old looked to be what I would expect for an older hotel. The surprises started at night when I tried to sleep. The room had it's own air conditioner unit in it's own little closet. Unfortunately, it seems to be an older one that made a huge amount of noise whenever it went on, which was often considering the heat in Dallas during the summer. It rattled on and on all night long. Another surprise occurred when I was taking a shower and closed the bathroom door. The door knob was an old one when I attempted to open the door, the knob did not catch and did not open the door. I was trapped in the bathroom. I fumbled around until I found some implement to tighten the screw that attached the knob to the shaft. I also objected to the requirement to use the hotels valet service to park the car. Even if you don't use the car, you are charged $20 a day. Overall the hotel was OK with a couple of high points; old time grandeur of the common areas and a staff that did go out of their way to be helpful. The rooms seem to need some upgrade on the mechanical side, although it was clean and did have a very nice flat screen TV.

Over all hotel was great. The only thing I would say bad about it is The pillows on the bed were a bit to hard for me.Everything else was perfect!
