Very disappointing experience. The question is: Were did they put the $70 million dollars? You pay a high price for the rooms which still seem to be from the 80s and they charge a lot of money for all the services, food and drinks. The main pool was totally crowded, loud and unpleasant and the small pool is outdated and needs improvement. The restaurant and spa and bars seem to be nice but they are very expensive. The landscaping is poor in some areas. YOu have a feeling that they ran out of money when it comes to the back part of the hotel.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 13Retro Chic!
We were pleasantly surprised when we checked in. The Riviera was done in an upscale, 50's retro contemporary chic. We loved everything about this place. We even brought our dog, and when we were told that guests with pets would be designated to bldgs 7 and 8 we thought that the room would smell like dog. It did not! We had the junior suite and it was plenty big for our 15 yr. old and the dog too. The room was beautifully done, and had easy access to the doggie area. However, they could add doggie bags and a receptacle, but all in all our stay was memorable. I was celebrating my 50th birthday and couldn't have selected a better place. The entire staff was professional and courteous.

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 13Great room for the money
The first day of stay had many, many guests at the pool. Very busy. Resort fees were $25 per day. Not sure what those fees covered.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 13Terrible service
Although the room we ended up in was nice we had many problems with our stay. The service was absolutely terrible. The pool area is beautiful but our room was near the smaller pool and there were no towels available- you either had to walk to the other pool or find towels somehow yourself. Our room was next to the stairwell and every time someone used the door it banged loudly. The air conditioning unit also made a loud banging noise periodically. The pool was nice but everything else was extremely disappointing. We will not be going back.

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 13Needs improvement--Short staffed
For a quick overnight weekend stay, we thought the Riviera would best meet our needs. It looked modern & chic--just how we envisioned a resort hotel. We were offered a $100 room upgrade to check-in sooner than normal (we arrived at noon, check-in is at 4pm). We agreed so we could spend time at the pool. Our upgraded room was by the main pool which was convenient. We loved the daybeds, cabanas & firepits around the pool. The hotel decor was a great attempt at improvement, yet was still lacking. Our time at the pool could have been better had there been more waitresses. There seemed to only be 3 waitresses the entire day for the entire pool area. It took at least 30 minutes to flag down a busboy to send a waitress over. After placing my order, it took about 30 minutes to receive our food & drinks & she missed a food item which took another 30 minutes to finally receive. Phooey! Our room had an inoperable phone which meant we had to use our mobile phone to call the front desk. It seemed the nicest, most accomodating employees were the bellhop/valet services. Breakfast at Circa 59 took at least 30 minutes to receive & our order was incorrect as well. We're not rushing to stay here again.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 13Beautiful Hotel, Bad Service
The hotel was great: new, hip, clean, and comfortable. The staff did not fit the bill. Our plumbing was broken upon check-in, and it took me walking to the front desk - after 2 phone calls - to get someone to take a look at it and move us to a different room. The waitress at the poolside bar looked trashy and was not friendly. I ordered a Miami Vice, and it was the worst I've ever had. I would stay there again if the customer service was to improve.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 13Check your bill
Very nice and posh hotel. But our room was in building 4 little off and we were on 3rd floor a bit walk to the elevator or you had to take the stairs. Very loud ventilation in the bathroom so it got noise in the bedroom as well. The A/C really blows on you when you are in bed. The spended 70USD to renovate the hotel but there are some things that needs to be workd on. But the room is very nice designed and the pool area beautiful. BUT check your check out bill we had some additional costs that was a mistake, shouldn´t have been on our bill. And we told at the check out and it was like the were not surprised!!So be aware and check your bill!!!!

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 13Still work to be done
We booked here because we got the room at half-price. It seems they are trying to appeal to a young/hip crowd which is fine. We have two young children and did not receive any negative vibes from guests or employees. That's a plus. The hotel had been renovated within the past year and, if you look, you can tell. By and large they did a fine job with the renovation. where they fell down was with service. All the employees were nice but... The concierge desk had next to no menus for local eateries. when asked to bring the lone menu they did have to my room they took over half an hour then called to see if we had received it (we hadn't). By then we had already decided to just order a pizza. We were supposed to have a pack-n-play for our youngest to sleep in but it was not there when we checked in. Fortunately, they remedied this expediently. finally, we learned that the hotel is exclusively valet. With two small children and with our room being on the total opposite end from the lobby we were able to forego this but it would have been nice to know beforehand. Taken all together I would stay there again or recommend it to others. The resort fee is really not worth it but at least I knew about that before making my reservation.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 13A great getaway
We booked this hotel last minute based on the reviews/reputation and it did not disappoint. The room was very comfortable, room service was quick, the facilities were great, the food at Circa 59 was fantastic, and the staff was very pleasant. The only down side was pool service. I am unsure if it was the time of year we were there (Feb) but over our 3 day stay, the only way to get pool food/drink service was to go to the bar and order (as opposed to having a waiter/waitress come to us poolside). This was minor though and I would definitely recommend the Riviera to friends (I know we will be going back again for sure).
