Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 17great room for the money
The room itself was great, however do not be deceived by the photos I thought I was staying directly on the beach but instead I was across the street in the main building. The photos show only 1 bldg however there are 2. I would stay again but ask for a beachfront room.

The "beachside" Lauderdale hotel is not actually beachside. Some of the rooms are, but ours was across the street. Even so, it was a nice place and the beachside tiki bar was awesome with great live music everday and great food. I would recommend it, although it is quite far from bars and clubs.

Entire hotel smelled of mildew had to leave the room and transfer to a new one. We weren't the only totally unsatisfied guests. Others were complaining about the same things.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 17DON'T RECOMEND THIS HOTEL
THE PASS KEY TO THE ROOM WOULD NOT WORK MOST OF THE TIME, AND HAD TO WAIT ALL THE TIME FOR SOMEONE TO OPEN THE DOOR. IT TOOK 3 DAYS FOR THE PROBLEM TO BE FIXED, AND THEN IT STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN BEFORE WE LEFT. THE HEAT DIDN'T WORK, THE BATHROOM LIGHT DIDN'T WORK AND TOOK 3 DAYS FOR THEM TO FIX THAT. THEY TRIED TO PUT ME IN A ROOM ACROSS THE STREET AND I HAD TO REALLY GET MAD BEFORE THEY SUDDENLY FOUND A NOTE THAT SAID I WAS ON THE BEACH SIDE, EVEN THOUGH I PAID MORE FOR THE BEACH SIDE IN THE FIRST PLACE. MANY MORE HOTELS IN THE AREA THAT ARE MUCH NICER FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE. IT REALLY MADE A TRIP THAT I HAVE BEEN ON MANY TIMES TO THIS AREA MY WORSE TRIP. PICK ANOTHER HOTEL BESIDES THIS ONE

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 17Great room for the money
Our three-person, seven-day stay was just right at Lauderdale Beachside Hotel. The room was comfortable with a refrigerator and microwave. I got the non beach side building and that was just fine (besides, who looks out at the unlit beach at night?). The staff was friendly, unobtrusive, and polite. The onsite game room was a treat. (We didn't try the restaurant but the free welcome drink was potent!) The beach and pool side bar & grill were great, sunny, and always busy w/travellers and locals alike in constant states of enjoyment. If you desire alone time w/ your books, that's great, too. Cable TV allowed viewing around the clock in room and thru-out the hotel. Ample parking was available (make sure to display your parking permit placard provided by the hotel) at every hour of the day/night. If you choose to leave your car at home, cabs seemed to always be available. If you neglect the sights for just the beach and pool you won't feel isolated; just across the street is a mini mall with a major chain supermarket offering fresh everything, including prepared foods moderately priced. Also at the mall directly across the street, there's a liquor store, a diner, a major donut/coffee shop, a Chinese dine in/out restaurant (with plump duck!), nail/hair salon, investment sellers, a pharmacy, and other services. Walkers can go approx. four blocks for an array of other cheap-to-pricey eat and drink places. The hotel is good for all ages. The hotel's negatives were really minor: e.g., the beds were a little too soft for us; full-sized bed sheets that rolled off at night w/ two folks who toss-n-turn; not enough in-room coffee and related condiments for a caffeine fiend my first few days. I will definitely return and leave my car behind.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 9 of 17Make certain you have a room!
And by this comment, I mean that this hotel is notorious for overbooking!! We made a reservation in advance on Hotels.com, paid for the room, only to arrive and find that, (1) they didn't even have our reservation; and (2) they had overbooked the hotel and had no rooms available! They wanted to send us down the street to the Ramada. After much argument with the front desk and manager, and because we were there IN PERSON and other folks checking in were late, they decided to bump someone else that hadn't even arrived yet and give us that room. Thought that was a no-brainer! Thank goodness for Hotels.com. They faxed in our reservation proving that our credit card had already been charged for that room. (And standing in the lobby was no picnic either; the music they played was too loud. They played, what seemed like, top 40's pop, which contained some offensive language - very inappropriate for children.) Once in the room, the bathroom light flickered worse than a strobe light! There were holes in the wall where they, ingeniously, decided to put the microwave cord in order to plug it in. And don't plan on sleeping in; they come by to make up the rooms at 9:00 a.m.!! whether you're checking out or not! And, hopefully you have towels after they HAVE made up the room...otherwise, you'll have to sign for them. I would NOT recommend this hotel for anyone.

I great hotel with a good restaurant/bar. A clean room with comfortable beds. A clean bathroom with good water pressure. Near the beach and the highway and a good location for travel to a Dolphin game.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 17Needs many improvements
First of all, this hotel has two buildings, so do no be fooled into thinking you'll actually get the building that it actually "beachside" without an extra charge. I kindly asked for a room in the bulding that is beachside and the man at the front desk said we had to pay an extra $20 for that. The hotel itself needs a lot of updating. It smells and the rooms are very dated. Our bathtub had rust all around it and paint was chipping off the walls and the doors. If they just put a little more money into updating the rooms and making them look and feel more clean and well-kept, my impression of this hotel would have been way much better.

We had two rooms. 455: OK. They never cleaned my coffee pot. They took my pillowcase of my personal pillow. 553: TV remote did not work, light over the coffee pot did not work. Lamp between the beds did not work. Everything covered with plaster dust!
