Great location for the money

The location of this hotel was right on the beach, we walked a little ways from our patio door onto the beach. Things like the Wi-Fi wasn't working, big inconvenience, but we were able to use the computer at the front desk. Cleanliness of the room was great, but overall wasn't too too bad. Did see a few bugs and it just needed some general TLC. Would stay again though.

Good room for the money

Room was ok, but bathroom was a bit run down, lobby smelled like urine or very strong mold, even though it had recently been remodeled.

Be careful

Photos show hotel "on the beach" but they have the other hotel across the street & ended up there. After inspecting the 1st room with a headboard torn off the wall, dirty, balcony door welded shut, we were given an Executive Suite. No bathtub drain stop & water did not drain - up past your ankles. Food under the bed, no refill coffee cups the 2nd day, didn't look like the mopped the bathroom floor very much. The ONLY thing is they have great beds & comforters.

Careful: mold/mildew alert!

This is an old building with old fixtures that should have been replaced many years ago. The tub/shower was chocked full of mold/mildew and a simple cleaning would never fix the problem.

Not clean at all

We were very dissappointed in the cleanliness of this hotel. After staying in the room for two nights, upon check-out, we found something extremely nasty on the floor that we had overlooked - and so did the cleaning staff. When we reported it to the front staff they just looked at us like we were crazy. They did apologize and said someone would call us within 24 hours. We never received a call. Prior to finding this, the room was neither great nor bad. They said they were upgrading us, but if that was an upgrade - I certainly wouldn't want to see what the other room looked like. I would not recommend this place even though it was not extremely terrible. It was fairly centrally located - not bad.

Great room for the money

Outstanding location. Car Rental not needed as strip mall across the street has grocery store and a couple of eating locations. Beach is very short walk from hotel.

Some good, some not so good

My husband and I stayed at the Beachside for 4 nights for a fall getaway. The location of the hotel was great- easy access to the beach and the downtown Lauderdale-by-the-Sea area. However, we did encounter some difficulties. We elected to pay the extra fee to stay in the beach building. However, when we checked in, we found that all the rooms in that building had only two double beds, and if we wanted a king bed, we would have to pay an extra $50 per night. The room we were given had not been remodeled, and felt very old and unclean. The staff that night was wonderful, and worked with us to get a room in the main building with queen bed. That room was remodeled, and felt clean and comfortable. Our first morning, we got up to go to the complimentary breakfast, which we had read on the hotel website included made-to-order omlettes. It was actually one of the worst complimentary breakfasts we had encountered, including scrambled eggs, white toast, and bran muffins. We were disappointed in the lack of variety. We had two days of bad weather, and at the end of the second day, things began to clear and we wanted to sit on the beach that afternoon. However, the hotel, having told us that they would provide beach towels, had decided not to provide any that day because of the inclement weather that morning. Not a huge deal, but annoying when you have a short time on vacation and have paid a resort fee.

Great Location, stinky hotel

I was floored with the location of this hotel! Had it been in better shape it would have been the find of the century. The location, beach-side pool and bar, and friendly staff were awesome! We were in the beach-side building and had a room on the top floor on the beach - wow. Downside - the hallways smelled like a house with cats (20 of them). Our room was clean but smelled of light mold. The carpet in our room, though vacuumed, needed to be replaced. There were a ants in the bathroom. If you're looking for a place to rest your head between beach, bars, partying, etc... then this may be a good bet for you. If you're looking for a family-friendly beach spot you may want to spend some extra $$.

You get what you pay for

Ask for a room in the bldg. close to the beach. This hotel has 2 bldgs. The one we stayed in was across the street. Parking was confusing at first. Hotel had incorrect info for my stay -- luckily I had my own printout. "Concierge" gave me an extra ticket for continental breakfast that consisted of donuts, oatmeal and waffles -- no meat!. It was their mistake and they acted like they were doing me a favor with the extra ticket. Not uncommon to have to rent chairs/cabanas for beach, but I guess I was spoiled with a recent stay at another hotel down the street where I didn't have to pay for these things. Good hotel for singles and partiers.

Great Renovation

Very stylish renovation of an older hotel made it a real gem, especially at that price. Staff was friendly and access to the beach was great. Very nice hotel bar on the beach and sports bar/grill. Felt like we really lucked out on this one.
