Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 16Great
Stayed there one night and it awesome. The room decor was great, there was a balcony with a view of the ocean, and you're literally a block away from the shops and restaurants at Venice. The only thing i should warn people about is that the only real option for parking is at the hotel valet and it's $27.50. There's a lot across the street that charges $9, but dont be fooled, you can't park overnight.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 16Overpriced
The hotel was nice but it was too pricey. It just didn't thave that WOW factor. None of the rooms in the entire hotel have bathtubs. The don't provide room service for breakfast. The rooftop hangout spot with the nice view doesn't allow children so we had to eat in the tiny restaurant downstairs. Worst of all the parking was $25!!! That was infuriating.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 16Wonderful stay
I don't know LA but I heard Venice Beach was the place to be for the young and adventurous. I also heard that most places around there were like brothels. My girlfriend and I loved the Erwin. It was super nice and comfortable. We'll go back.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 16Enjoyed our stay
I had a great time but the parking was a bit pricey and we got our room for a good price but it was 50% off. I don't think it would have been worth it if I had to pay full price. The customer service was ok, but not as good as I am used to when I stay in a hotel. All in all I would give it a 7.5 out of 10 rating. Very cool, trendy vibe they got going.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 16It's Okay...
But I was a bit disappointed with the construction going on. We had to walk through the garage to get to the elevator. Also, we had to move the bed and plug in the clock and lamp, but the wall outlet didn't work. Not a big deal, I mean, it happens, but a hotel should be on top of these things, right? Especially if it's not a flea bag hotel.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 16Great room for the money....on the beach
Nice, well kept room. Very comfortable bed. Very close to the beach. NOTE: Parking is NOT included...but reasonable, budget for it. Nice walking areas. Venice Beach Boardwalk area within a block behind the hotel...older shops and lots of street venders and street musicians and dancers.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 16Excellent Location
We booked this hotel because it was right on Venice Beach. We literally stepped out of the hotel's back door and were steps from the sand. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly Valet and Desk Clerk. We were offered an upgrade for a small price. We weren't sure if it was what we wanted until the showed us both rooms. We chose the 1 bedroom suite of course. Everything was clean and comfortable. Parking charge was reasonable for LA ($15), many places charge up to $40 to park. Overall, our stay was excellent, no complaints at all!!

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 16a wonderfull venice beach experience
I have always made a day trip of venice beach, but decided to make a weekend of it and actually stay on the beach!! My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience! The hotel staff were very accomidating and helpfull, the rooms with a view were beautifull, and i loved the view of venice beach from the balcony...if its the "Venice" experience your looking for i highly recommend this hotel. I am looking forward to making this a yearly trip!

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 16We Were Somewhat Disappointed
Pros: immediate access to the beach and Venice canals, clean and big rooms, free WiFi, and pleasant service. Cons: noisy (thin walls and noisy neighborhood), very basic breakfast (choice of three muffins, basic coffee and tea), vicinity to the boardwalk (vagrancy levels on the boardwalk are higher than a visit 9 years earlier).

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 16Much better deal than we were expecting.
HOTEL: Great deal on a suite-size room for our 4-day stay. Large rooms were immaculate. Beds very comfortable. Great water pressure in the shower. Large HDTV in living area. Staff extremely friendly. Yes, you do pay an extra $16.50 for valet parking every day but it is very quick and convenient. (Parking is very tight in this area of town.) LOCATION: One block away from the beach. We could see it from our room and, if you can't, you can get a great panorama view from the roof. Be sure to check it out after dark, too. Lots of restaurants and shopping within walking distance (we really liked Danny's and the Beach Cafe). For those reviews complaining about the neighborhood, they probably haven't spent much time in L.A. Yes, there are homeless and panhandlers but we never felt uncomfortable or threatened in anyway. The local business owners were friendly with the homeless and knew them as part of the community. I might be hesitant to let small children run loose on their own after dark but teenagers would be fine (unless they have been extremely sheltered from real life). NEGATIVES (minor ones): Fake electric fireplace really distracts from what is otherwise a gorgeous suite (Hopefully, they'll upgrade this to gas or something more authentic in the future). HDTV in living room lacked cable channels (like ESPN) that were available on the standard def TV in the bedroom (I only turned the TV's on to check them out so didn't really care. The hotel may have had a fix for this that I wasn't aware of.) CONCLUSION: I travel to the L.A. area at least once a year and, if the pricing remains the same, this could be the place I stay every year. My girlfriend loved the hotel even more than I did. She wants to come back and stay sometime with her kids (ages 16, 13, and 7).

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 16not worth more than $125 a night
They charge $15 automatically each day for your car being parked. And trust me you do not want to take your car and park it on the street. Very shady area at from sunset til 8am. And I do not mean trees. It was nice to have the hotel close enough to the beach to walk to for the bathroom so as not to use the nasty ones at the beach. Not much of food or dining selections around hotel. Don't go to Mao's...Nasty!!! especially the staff who fixes meals...no hand washing!!! the breakfast was not deluxe continental as stated. just juice, frozen pastries cold hard boiled eggs milk cereal and yogurt. The shuttle service they offer is horrible. Only available 10 am to 2:30pm. good luck walking the 5 or so miles to the santa monica pier. overallnot worth the money i paid per night.
