Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 120Great for the visitor
This hotel is perfect for the city visitor. I booked my visiting family here and it was centrally located to everything I wanted them to see. The staff was the most friendly of any hotel staff I've ever experienced, asking my parents how their day went when they returned from sightseeing.

Trip Type: Family Review 3 of 120Perfect Hotel for First time in Chicago.
We had a corner room on the 36th floor overlooking the river with the most beautiful view. The hotel was across from the Trump Tower and across the street from one of the tour bus stops and the architectural boat tour. Do pay the little extra for a river view, it is well worth the money. We were close to the Miracle Mile, Millenium Park and the CTA. We also could walk to the Navy Pier. The staff was friendly and informative. I would stay there again.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 120Location, Location...
This is a great hotel in an outstanding location. The rooms are larger than most hotels because the building was designed as a condo. You can walk to just about everything from this hotel, and it's convenient to public transportation too. If you want to be in the middle of it all, I can't think of a better place to stay in Chicago.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 120Fantastic Hotel
Hotel 71 was amazing! It has the most beautiful views of Chicago and is in a prime location. Everything in the Magnificent Mile is within walking distance. The hotel was very clean and the room was very large. The hotel staff were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I will definitely stay in this hotel in the future! A+

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 120Excellent Hotel with Great Service
We were very impressed with Hotel 71. The price was reasonable, the rooms where comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was situated right in the heart of the downtown area (the loop) and was close to all the attractions (water tower, parks, museums, ballparks). Though the hotel does not have a restaurant, there are many eating establishments in the area and it is situated close to bus lines and trains that can get you anywhere in the city in just minutes. The front desk staff was helpful in giving directions and suggested great eating establishments in the area. We stayed at the hotel for two days, then were fortunate enough to be able to stay at a friend's house in Oak Park. On the day of our departure, the hotel let us store our baggage for a few hours before catching the train to the airport, saving us over an hour in travel time. One of the big advantages of staying at this hotel was being able to take the subway to the loop and walk about three blocks to the hotel. The Hotel 71 is easily assessable from both Midway and O'Hare airports by subway. Besides, you can purchase a 1,3,5,or 7 day pass for the subway and bus system at the airport which was the most convenient for us. We had a great visit to the beautiful city of Chicago and will surely use the Hotel 71 again on our next trip.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 120Shoe Box for a not so Shoe Box budget!
We get to the "W" about 7 p.m. nice nice Check In Counter loved the decor and the ambiance...so were all excited to get up to our "Spectacular Room" as its called and our adreniline is running on excitement of first openeing the door and expecting this grand room with the beautiful view.....Cant complain about the view it is spectacular....but the size of this room was so dissapointing its unbelievable that one has to litteraly move to one side of the room to let someone else pass to the window....not only that ...but the restroom has a shudder...thats right a shudder that is right by the one bed...so if you go with your significant other and your wanting privacy from ...I hate to say it ...smell and sound...this is not the hotel for you...one can litterly hear the other in the restroom ....I cant see this hotel as a family hotel with kids...the rooms are super super smal....staff was very nice...car was brought to the front promptly but small small rooms I cant stress enouph!....

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 120Great location & Great Views
We were there for a vacation. CTA rail and bus stops were in very close to the hotel. The staff helped with directions that were easy to follow. We had a room with a city view and I enjoyed looking at the buildings. The view front the front is equally as impressive. The room had plenty of space for three people to move around while ready for the day without bumping into each other.

Excellent location. Good price for quality of room. Only need for improvement is elevators. Had to wait in line one night to get upstairs.

Great location, close to all the downtown attractions. Lobby needs a refresh. Rooms are clean, but the beds could use a refresh.

The negative: We had reserved a room with 2 beds. Upon arrival we were told that the hotel was booked to capacity and no 2 bed rooms were available, only rooms with 1 king size bed. Therefore I requested a cot for my 13yr. old grandson. I was told that a cot would cost $30 additional a night. After protesting the cot charge, the manager agreed not to charge me for the cot. Also the view from the 9th floor (City View) was awful. See gazed out at the back alley and trash dumpters of surrounding bldgs. The positive: The hotel and rooms were very clean. It appeared to have been recently remolded. The responce to any housekeeping needs was immediate. Great location near resturants and shopping, tour buses, and tour boats.

Trip Type: Family Review 15 of 12071 Fills the Bill
We recently stayed at the Hotel 71 in Chicago. The location was outstanding, right accross the sreet from Marina City & the House of Blues. The price was most cost effective. The rooms were the largest rooms I've ever stayed in for the money. It was in perfect condition & the housekeeping staff was as good as I've ever dealt with. Nothing was too much trouble. If I should wind my way back to Chicago again, I will most certainly stay there. Further, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
