Okay for the price

The hotel rooms were really old and the air conditioner was noisy. But the hotel was clean overall. The location of the hotel is decent as it is just a block away from the Berri/UQAM Metro station and a few blocks away from Rue St. Denis which has a lot of bars and restaurants. The neighborhood around the hotel can be a bit sketchy late at night though, so be careful walking around after hours.

Under Construction

The hotel was undergoing front facade renovations. Other construction workers returned to work on the lot next door Monday morning (when we checked out). Luckily neither was working over the weekend. People staying during the week might not be so lucky. The room: a lampshade had a nice big crack that scraggled from top to bottom, one outlet near the desk didn't work (so we couldn't use the desk for work), our toilet wouldn't flush everything unless we held the handle the whole time, there was black mold all the way around the top edge of the shower block, bed comforters were seriously outdated. Beds were comfortable, never turned on the tv, location was great to everything we wanted to see (the village, old Montreal, and general walking around), price was affordable, and the staff was friendly.

False advertising: Not the hotel in the pictures.

I reserved a suite at the Berri partly based on the pictures on this and the hotel's own web site. The suite I got when I arrived looked nothing like the pictures, I complained and was told someone had mistakenly put up the wrong pictures and nothing could be done because the room was already paid for. My vacation was short I did not want to spend my time trying to get what I had paid for. The room I got was minimally ok, it hadn’t been completely cleaned, there were half empty water bottles on the self and some bottle caps here and there. The fixtures and furniture were old, the suite was dark with a slight smell of smoke and disinfectant. The lobby was under going a remodel. The included continental breakfast consisted of bread items, bagels, bananas, yogurt, jam, orange juice and coffee.

Great Location, Outstanding service

This hotel is very well located in the Latin Quarter of the city, very close to the Metro as well as an easy walk to the Old Port of Montreal. I originally had booked a room with one bed for two, but when I checked in they asked if we wanted one or two beds in order to see if there was another room available. We were upgraded in minutes without any cost difference. Very nice place with helpful staff and a great restaurant in the lobby.

Clean and Convenient Location

My girlfriend and I choose this hotel because of the reviews and location, and we were not disappointed. The service was just as expected and the rooms were clean. Each day we left the "Do not disturb" sign on the door because who doesn't like to sleep in on vacation. We never left the room before 2pm each day. The room was always made up when we came back. The house keeping service works until 3pm so that was nice. Most of the time (in the US) if you don't allow the maid service to clean the room before noon, you end up asking for clean towels from the front desk. One other positive point is this hotel is 1 block from the green and orange metro junction. This was extremely helpful to get around as we used the metro quite a bit. The metro is very quick and a train will come almost every 5mim. It's a great way to get around.

Great price and location

This hotel is extremely well located - one block from the main Metro hub (Berri/UQAM) and perfect access to Rue St-Catherine and Rue St-Denis which feature loads of great shops and food. It was clean, quiet, and since we stayed 4 nights it was important to be very comfortable and we were. The hotel provides in-house wifi and the rate was more than reasonable, the connection was perfect. The room could stand to use some redecoration but the bathroom looked very recently renovated and was very clean. There was underground parking accessible with the room card so we never had to worry about where to stash our car. I definitely plan on staying here again.

Don't believe the pics

The lobby is nice, but the size of a stamp. The rooms are dated and look it. Must have had some great lighting for the pics. Price was fine, but the location was the best part, 1 block from the bars, with none of the noise.
