Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 2 of 14great location
When we arrived at the Philippos in the early morning, were were told that they had become overbooked because of some guests not leaving on schedule, so they were upgrading us to their sister hotel which was right around the corner. This hotel was really perfect in every way. There was a great view of the acropolis and the new acropolis museum from the comfortable rooftop lounge, and each of these were within about a 5 minute walk of the hotel. We only had one day to spend in Athens so the central location was ideal, and the high quality of the hotel and friendliness of the staff made for an experience that couldn't have been better.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 6 of 14good location, nice people, clean place, but too small room
Overall I am happy with it, but what I paid might have got some more upscaled places. Still, it is a pretty good place, very close to the Acropolis, Olympia Zeus etc. The room and bed are very clean; air condition is in good order; breakfast is decent; the manager on duty is quite helpful. The only complaint is that the room is very small, essentially about 1 meter from the bed (a pretty large bed though) to the three sides of the walls or furnitures. I would only recommend it if you don't mind too much the size of the room.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 14breakfast
This part of our stay was our 7th, 8th & 9th day in Greece. If I see one more hard boiled egg and plain bread, rolls, more bread and rolls I would vomit. Maybe some cereal - different types. Or possibly a breakfast type quiche. (I know we weren't in France - but the hard boiled egg and bread thing gets real old, real fast.

Quick trip from airport and hotel had van there for pick up and arranged return trip for us. Beautiful hotel with clean rooms, great views, beautiful pool, varied breakfast. Easy walk down to beach area. Need to take a taxi to downtown area. Friendly, helpful staff. It was a great experience and a wonderful place to stay for the price.

We just got back from this great hotel. It is situated in a very nice part of Athens. We booked early and were so fortunate to have room #701. This is a great, albeit small room, and the only one on the top floor (no neighbors) with a large terrace/roof deck which is private. It was so quiet. The view is stunning and looks directly up to the Acroplis. It was kept so clean. The breakfast is standard fare. The staff is efficient and friendly. This was a great value for the price. We just loved hanging out there. Greek TV is beyond fun. Efharisto.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 11 of 14Awesome location!
The location of the Philippos Hotel is awesome if you're wanting to see the ancient Athens sites. It is only four blocks from the Acropolis and a few more from the Temple of Zeus and Ancient Agora, and it's very close to the Plaka for good shopping and restaurants. Also, the staff are extremely friendly and helped with some common Greek words. I have only two minor complaints: the room is tiny (but I wasn't there to spend time in the room, anyway), and one of the two days I did not receive my wake-up call (fortunately, I had a backup).
