Convenient alternative to seeing Chicago

For those who can live without all of the trappings of a 4 or 5 star hotel and would rather spend their money on events while visiting Chicago I would recommend staying at the Chinatown Hotel. It is a three minute walk to the Red Line to take you to downtown and it only takes 10 minutes to get downtown. I figure I saved $400 for two rooms over three nights by staying in Chinatown as opposed to staying in a hotel in the downtown area. Each suite had two inner rooms with a twin or double bed. There isn't a lot of room to move around so this hotel is suited more for those who don't spend much time in the hotel but are out and about. There is a lounge area on the first floor with a refrigerator and microwave if you need it. There are also two computers in the lounge which you can use free of charge. There are all kinds of great Asian restaurants within three blocks in any direction from the hotel. The only real criticism that I would have is that the hotel could use new carpeting. Other than that I thought that the staff is friendly and the hotel is generally clean.

Great room for the money

very close to train and even closer to a parking lot I left my car for the length of my stay while i took the train. The room is small but was fine for me and my guest. The bathroom was large. There is no elevator at this hotel but that wasnt a big deal for me. The area is loaded with beggers but so was downtown Chicago.

Great Chicago Option

I stayed here with my eleven your old-- he loves Chinese food, loved Chinatown, and found the hotel quite suitable. The staff is good, the experience different and nicer than the usual hotel, even though the rooms are pretty "basic." I would definitely go back.

Wonderful location in Chinatown

This hotel is in the middle of Chinatown and there are many places to eat, shop, and look around very nearby! My 6 year old did say the room was "dinky" but it was very clean and the hotel staff are kind and helpful. The convenience of the location was outstanding!
