Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 86Outstanding except for the toilet
Everything was wonderful except the toilet area did not seem very private, the door did not lock and had a floating frosted door

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 86Might not be worth the "Hard Rock" experience
Checking in and out was great, along with curbside valet, though pricey. TV wouldn't work for more than half our 3 day stay, hot water didn't work one full day, loud parties all into the early morning. Onsite clubs were overpriced and very packed. Everything came with a price, and a very high one at that. Our first time at the hotel, and it was overall enjoyable, but not for economical reasons. Great location within walking distance of everything downtown, but we (wife and I) ultimately felt that we were just another typical guest and were treated according to what we paid for. Would recommend a different hotel(s) for next potential trip.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 86BEST HOTEL...WOULDNT SAY ANYWHERE ELSE IN SAN DIEGO
My boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel this past weekend and had an amazing time. The staff overall did a great job answering any questions we had and made us feel really comfortable like they were catering to us! The hotel is in a perfect location too. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel, you won’t regret it.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 86Good Hotel
Overall, very satisfied with my stay at the Hard Rock San Diego. Staff was very friendly and hotel was clean. Great location as well. Downsides: Always a party at the pool. If you don't want to party at the pool, don't go to the Hard Rock. Parking was valet only and expensive per day. Be sure and ask for rates.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 86great deal
The gas lamp district awesome the location is the best is S.D. easy access to everything. The hotel was absolutely beautifull but we had a couple small issues first no t.v. remote which controls there whole system, we let them know and they imediatley gave us one. Then it didn't work at 3 diffrent occasions they had to send a technician up but if was fixed all 3 times.... but lets be honest once no big deal 3 times thats just annoying. The overall stay was great we loved it and they do have great service we would definetly stay again...

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 86Good for partiers and beautiful people.
The hotel is nice, modern and definitely has a strong party vibe. Not the most friendly staff and the layout of the hotel is confusing, but overall, a good place for a weekend getaway. Just know this is not the hotel for a calm, zen weekend. It's a place to party.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 86A unique hotel
This hotel met most of our needs but it isn't for everyone. We are a couple in our 40s and were not interested in the bar/party scene but this is a great location for those interested in that kind of thing. There were plenty of good restaurants and shops around. I enjoyed the hotel because it has a different feel than the typical cookie-cutter hotels I stay at for business trips. However, this has both an up side and a down side. For example, the bathrooms are very modern, with a great shower and a modern frosted glass sliding door. We didn't appreciate the window into the bathroom from the bar, the lack of tub, or the fact that the bathroom door can't be locked. Don't expect a bathroom that gives you any privacy! There is a VERY extensive, VERY expensive bar in the room. However, there is no coffee pot. Even cheap hotels have coffee pots! I guess it doesn't fit with their image. Condoms are available in the minibar area, but no coffee or tea. The rooms are very modern and the lighting is great, but the rooms are much smaller than a standard hotel room of similar cost. The large flat screen TV was one of the best I've seen in hotels, however. From our room (11th floor), we could see the Coronado Bridge and the island, which was very nice. The lobby was dark, with very little seating. It isn't designed to be a place to hang out.Loud music is constantly playing. What was most frustrating is that they didn't have any consierge who could answer quick questions. One had to wait in lines with those registering to get answers to questions. I should also mention that, unlike others posting at this site, we had no problems at all with the valet service for the car. It is expensive, but the staff was quick and couldn't have been nicer. I recommend this hotel if you want to try something different but I will not be returning.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 86Great San Diego Location
Stayed here early July 2009. Couldn't ask for a better location, at the entrance to the Gaslamp District, adjacent to trolley stop, across street from convention, two short blocks to PetCo Park. Make sure to go to Rock Spa. Credit towards massage was part of the deal from Hotels.com, thank you Samantha for the relaxing massage. Would highly recommend.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 86noisy, dirty, etc
This is a fairly new hotel and the room we stayed in (the woodstock suite) was a huge disappointment. The toilet paper holder was hanging on by one screw. The room had a large deck, which apparently previous guests smoked cigarettes at and did not close the glass door; hence the room smelt horribly of cigarette smoke. The previous guests had spilt soda all over the walls and the housekeeping crew failed to clean it. Previous guests had split a bottle of liquid on the carpet in front of the couch and the carpet remained wet during our stay. Furniture is being scratched and destroyed by heavy, careless, intoxicated guests. Every hour either a trolley passes by the hotel or a freight train and is quite disturbing.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 86Great Location!
The hotel is located right in the trendy Gaslamp District which was awesome! There are sooo many restaurants, bars, clubs, and stores all within walking distance. You are also close to the beach, Sea World, Coronado... pretty much everything. The room was beautiful and clean as were the pool and spa. Friendly staff, great amenities, wonderful atmosphere. I absolutely got my money's worth staying here. I would recommend it if you are staying in San Diego looking to party or to take it easy and relax. Either way, it was great.

room was nice but the service of the hotel was terrible. creepy people all around and the people that work their can barely walk straight. they lost my car at the valet and couldnt find cause they said i had already checked out. nice play to party with a bunch of people but not necessary to get a room for the price paid, much better places surrounding it.

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 86Excellent stay--for the young & beautiful (only)
Overall our stay was fantastic. Great service, great room, very clean, super fun pool and bars on premises. Although the lobby was very loud at night (like a night club), even on the 5th floor (which is right above the pool) we could not hear a thing in our room. Even though the log-on says internet is $15/day, we were told all guests get free internet access (and we weren't charged any extra). Important note: This hotel is for the young & beautiful who like to be in the center of the action, in the middle of Gaslamp. If you don't like feeling underdressed when heading out for day in sneakers and a t-shirt, this isn't your hotel. If you don't like sharing the hottub with the "california surfer dudes with their hot girlfriends", then not your place. My boyfriend and I aren't the "club going" types, but we still enjoyed being in the center of action at a beautiful hotel...and people-watching! But we did feel like the oldest people there (we are 30)!
