Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 113Historic Hotel but needs maintained
Overall a great place to stay. The Pump Room was lovely. However, our room was in some disrepair. The ceiling needed paint and the bathroom could use more counterspace. Very clean and comfortable. Loved our housekeeper!

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 113Great Hotel
Was very satisfied with this hotel. Room was clean, and roomy. Even with all my wifes stuff we had plenty of room. Very good restaurant down stairs. Good location. If we come back we would stay here again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 113good value but needs renovation
This hotel is an excellent value, given the location, the historic lobby, and the service. However, the rooms need renovation (carpets are old, air conditioners should be replaced, fitness equipment clunky). I had the feeling that the hotel management was thinking of selling the building.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 113Noisy place
The air conditioner was extremely loud, should have been serviced and the cleaning staff would have noticed it.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 113Great location, but older hotel
The Gold Coast location is excellent; 2 blocks from Rush Street, 4 blocks from the Red Line train. The Hotel itself is older, and historic. The staff was very friendly, but houskeeping could be better. I'd stay there again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 113Cozy and Convenient
The place was elegant and the staff were friendly. Plenty of restaruants right around the corner. It's in a cozy little spot away from the loudness of the city, but a five minute walk from the hotel doors can get you right back in the middle of it all. Plus it's not far from the el train, which I found to be necessary in all of my tourist-y adventures.

I had an excellent time in Chicago; the Ambassador East was an outstanding choice...

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 113Wonderful Staff
Fantastic location. Walking distance to many places of interest...zoo, shopping, lakefront, eats. Staff was very accomodating and friendly. Couldn't have been nicer inspite of the low rate we paid. The famous Pump Room at night had great drinks and live music, again very friendly, professional staff. Will be sure to stay again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 113Great, old-world hotel
We really liked the Ambassador East. It was a bit out of the way for those who like to be in the middle of the action, but the Gold Coast is a gorgeous area and the hotel was wonderful. A?C units were noisy, bring earplugs. Bed was a king and it and the sheets were so cozy.
