Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 36Shinagawa Prince Hotel - Great price!
The Shinagawa Prince Hotel is a great hotel for the money. The rooms are a bit small, but for a single person in a single room the hotel is perfect and just what you would want out of a hotel. Many rooms contain a 20" LCD TV for you to watch TV as well as an on-demand movie section if you just want to relax and watch a movie. The hotel is maybe a 2 minute walk from Shinagawa Station which is extremely convenient, and also right next to a Seven Eleven convenience store. The only downfall would be a lack of wi-fi internet in the east tower and a steep price of 1050JPY/night for an ADSL wired internet connection. I still would recommend to anyone to stay at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 2 of 36didn't know there were two sections
When I arrived I saw a very nice hotel with a very spacious and nice looking lobby. I was then directed by its front desk to the east tower. That's when I learned that there are two very different sections to the hotel as I now see other reviews are pointing out. I feel that all the positive reviews are for the main tower and not so much for the east tower I was in. The side I stayed at was a business hotel, and so the rooms were small. The look of the whole area and lobby appeared old and small as well. You're even given a key with a large key chain containing your room number on it. Something I haven't seen in years now that many hotels have gone to credit card like keys. The hotel staff was nice though, and all members I needed to communicate with spoke enough English to have an understanding both ways. The main tower seemed to have staff that was better with English though. Compared with other hotels in Japan, the east tower staff however wasn't as good, and so I felt they were more around average to good versus great and amazing. There were even a small couple of times I felt I had to go through a little more trouble than I should have with them. The best part about this hotel is location. Being right across the street from the Shinagawa train station was very nice. This may especially interest you if you plan to use the shinkansen or simply travel around the JR loop line to several popular spots in Japan. If you plan to use the subways more, this may not be a spot for you, as this is mostly a main JR stop.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 3 of 36Great Location for the money
The Shinagawa Prince Hotel is great hotel that is located on the JR Rail line. We stayed at the MAIN TOWER, there are other towers along with an Annex tower and attached building that will amazed you in many ways. I want to label this hotel a resort rather than what it claims to be. We stayed in the main tower in the 30s (non-smoking). Great view of the city (without selecting the option) and the parking lot and the aquarium beneath. The rooms are rather cozy compare to what you would expect in the US, but it is ultilized efficiently. Bed linen were spotless, room service was awesome (no tip required as the Japanese don't take tips, although that is starting to change now). The bathroom is a bit small, but you wont find a bigger bathroom in Japan. The restaurant in the hotel is suprisingly cheap compared to what you pay outside, but $ = quality. There are 7 different sections of Japanese, so you could never be bored of the same scene. (yes, they offer Kobe beef there for 10k yen) There are buffets of chinese cuisine in the upper fl, and a buffet in the lobby for a fair price (didnt try their food however). There is a Mcdonalds around the corner, a couple of local spots and a food market across the street that might satisfy your stomach for a few meals. Amenities; NO gym in the hotel. There is a swimming pool as mentioned, closed at 9p. There is an aquarium underneath the hotel for a low fee (discount for guest at the hotel). There are tennis courts, a golf range indoor across from the parking lot. There is a movie theater attached to the hotel. Also, there is a roller coaster beneath the hotel. (no joke, for 1000yen each ride) Overall, the hotel is great for the price, great location. Just had an awesome experience.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 8 of 36Solid value, location
I booked a main tower room on a high floor, so I believe this falls into the "renovated" category. The room size is about expected; a queen bed dominates the room, but there's enough room for a small table and chair and sufficient space to get around the room, so long as we kept our luggage tidy. The bathroom was smallish and nothing like more upscale Prince hotels replete with separate tub and shower, but still fine. Free internet access, albeit wired, was appreciated. Location was convenient to the Shinagawa station, which as others say, is great for JR, shinkansen, and airport trains. There's also a good grocery - great for take-away meals - in the adjacent building sublevel. An all-day JR Tokyo visitor pass will only set you back 700 yen and is worth it. I think if you add Tokyo Metro, it adds a few hundred more yen, but you can get by with mostly JR.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 9 of 36Great room for the money
6 moths ago, we stayed at the annex bldg; I did not like it. But this time we stayed at the Main Bldg, I like it and I will ask for it again on my next visit to Tokyo. Also we had blackfast 3 mornings; they were excelllent.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 14 of 36Nice hotel, nice location
Hotel is very large, but rooms are very small (although this is typical in Tokyo). Location is excellent if you need the JR line, as well as quick service food options.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 15 of 36over priced and very small
not only does hotel is over priced for the quality and size, but on top of that you can't even watch tv, you have to pay additional as well if you want to use their pool. I stayed in the north tower, which is hard to find, the rooms are so small and uncomfortable that you barely have space to move around and fit your luggage. I wouldn't recommend or stay at this hotel again, friendly staff but difficult to communicate with.
