Trip Type: With Friends Review 1 of 35CROWD IS WHY YOU COME TO THIS LOCATION
Roof top pool is why we were here, private hotel guest party, movies played on rooftop against other building, 24 restaurant(food is priced just right), free internet thru hotel, elevator speed is one of best, you will see when you get on. Improvement it is overplayed and once you look not really good work on room, extension cords under shelf run for permanent use, and TV satellite service very choppy and was perfect weather, never got fixed.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 35Just wasn't really clean
This was fun hotel. The pool, bars and lounges we're all very nice. The vibe of the rooms and hallways was very college dormitory-like. My primary concern was the feeling of my room not being quite as clean as it should be. The grout was dirty and there were rust stains in the tub. I would probably not stay there again, but I would visit for the pool and bars.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 35Watch Out For Extra Charges Not Explained on Website
The hotel certainly does provide a classic retro feel from the moment you walk in the door. But like true L.A. fashion, they require your car to be valet parked, which is a rather expensive charge not clearly explained on the hotels.com website, the charge for parking PER DAY is $30.00 plus tax, a complete rip-off. That alone will surely turn your mood sour if you are not prepared. When we finally got to the room, we were upgraded to a "huge" room from the "extra-large" room we reserved online. A nice sized room for two people, but didn't stay in it long as the rooftop lounge and bar was calling our name. After getting settled, we headed up top to a great rendezvous straight out of the 70's. Drinks were pricey but that is to be expected. Even the bathrooms were original in style! Overall, this hotel is a nice place to stay, but you better come prepared to spend money. Also, go to the library bar directly diagonal to the hotel - great place with fairly priced drinks.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 35Fun, Hip, Hotel
I love the standard, I will definatley stay here again. Just be warned, this Hotel caters to a young crowd. If you are looking for a quiet peaceful place, don't stay here. If you're looking to have a great stay and great night, the standard is a go!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 35Perfect for a Birthday Celebration
The room was big and roomy, very metro. The "Wow" room is the one we got and it was great to party in. We invited some people to party with us in the room and everyone loved it.. The shower is very different and out in the open. I enjoyed my stay, after all it was for my birthday weekend. P.S. Late Night/Early morning room service Rocks..... Cheeseburger w/fries.

Rooms are pretty cool, but it is a frat house. People were partying on our floor all night.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 35Not the most comfortable room
Waaay too minimalist. One wastebasket for whole room, no cups or glasses in bathroom, one robe instead of two, 1 ply toilet paper, thin worn-out sheets, rough towels... just lots of little things that add up. I expected alot more luxury for a 3 1/2 star rated hotel.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 35Needs Better Rooms
The hotel has some cool features, like the roof bar. However, the rooms leave you wishing for something more. The rooms are very minimalistic. There was no drawers for us to places our clothing (i.e. socks), just a closet with hangers and some cubbie holes. The TV was on a stand so low to the ground, that you could not watch TV in bed, unless you were propped up. Just didn't meet my expectations for the money.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 13 of 35BEST Concierge!
Had a great stay at the Downtown Standard! The staff couldn't be nicer and all of the concierges bent over backwards with recommendations, suggestions and directions.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 14 of 35Great place to stay and play!
Just like all of the standard hotels, rooms are decorated very minimal. The bed sits on a low platform, one side of the room is a counter/desk, and the bathroom is big but nothing fancy. The showers are very cool, but don't give much privacy. So if you are sharing the room make sure it's with someone you wouldn't mind having watch you shower. Half of the benefit of staying here is access to the roof top pool/bar. Its a good place to hang out during the day, but at night becomes one of the more popular destinations. Being able to walk to the valet, flash your room key and get wrist band while the line of people trying to get in goes out into the parking lot is a nice perk.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 15 of 35keep looking, better options are out there
There is nothing “standard” about this hotel except for the price they try to charge as a wannabe-boutique. And the cheap rate will get you’re a smaller room on the 3rd or 4th floor by the elevators. If you’re traveler accustomed to a certain level of service, comfort, and cleanliness in a hotel, the Standard is not for you. The hotel itself is a renovated OLD office building in downtown LA. The walls, carpeting and bathrooms have a dirty quality to them and hallways and rooms smell like stale smoke. The bed and TV sit on the floor like you’ve entered into someone’s studio apartment and the glassed shower is a fail. They woefully missed the trendy and minimalistic bull’s-eye and successfully hit lazy and tacky dead on! The rooftop bar provides a fun, lively atmosphere with a DJ as well as great areas to lounge and take in the view and lovely LA evening. This should be the only reason to stay at the Standard (hotel guests receive passes to skip the lines to get up to the bar) although there wasn’t much of a line on either Fri or Sat night.
