Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 1 of 40Hard to find entrance. For hip young crowd.
My daughter booked this hotel for me. I was returning from Hawaii and on my way back to Boston with a stopover to see her in LA. We had difficulty finding the entrance which was through a parking lot. A party was going on as I entered. Noisy. (I just wanted a good night's sleep..) It's hip with young people. Very modern. Minimalist. (I couldn't find anything to put my suitcase on to unpack.) The front desk were very nice and accommodating. They booked me a room on the top floor away from the noise. (However, they were party goers celebrating in the hallway outside my room; fortunately not for long, just in passing.) I personally wouldn't choose to stay her again.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 4 of 40Overall, a nice experience
I would recommend not visiting the roof on Fridays and Saturdays...unless you like a crazy guido party. (sorry if that sounds mean) We visited the roof on a Monday around 5pm and it was peaceful and there was a great view of the city. Very nice. Our room was simple and comfortable. The carpet looked like it was newly put in.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 6 of 40Don't Believe The Hype
The rooms are not meant for comfort. The low bed and even lower tv were far from meeting "the standard" expectations. The room furnishings were less than maintained. The prices were outrageous for the quality of room and service. The desk personnel were far from friendly and inviting. The only interesting feature was the roof lounge. I have to say that was an amazing feature.

I was advised NOT to stay downtown but I must admit I LOVED it! Great location and an all around great hotel!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 8 of 40Excellent price, for an AMAZING room
This hotel is amazing, beautiful room, with amazing views, and outstanding service at a unbelievable rate. I compared rates to other hotels in the area and none came near The Standard Downtown LA. I was skeptical with the price being so low, but once I got there I was shocked, honestly, I felt like I had won the lottery. I had planned on visiting a lot of tourist sites during my visit, but once there I just felt like relaxing in my room, I felt like I was a celebrity. I can say now, I can't wait for my next stay. So if you are on a budget and want an amazing experience The Standard is the place.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 9 of 40Nice Nest, Nicely Nestled
Spare open designed room, ample space. Nice nest. Good launching point for LA basin activities, nestled nicely amongst the tall twoers in Downtown LA. Makes that famous roof bar feel intimate. I had a nice surprise one evening... you should be so lucky!! Good deal. Crappy elevators, though...

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 10 of 40Needs Improvement
The Standard Downtown needs to invest in new lobby, rooftop and in-room furnishings...furnishings were uncomfortable and stained. The hotel could deliver on its cool vibe if upgrades were made. Loved the coffee shop decor!

Trip Type: Special Event Review 11 of 40THE STANDARD IS NOT THE STANDARD
THE ROOMS ARE VERY NICELY UPDATED. A MAJOR PROBLEM IS THE FLAT SCREEN IS LOCATED TEN INCHES OF THE FLOOR, DO NOT PLAN ON WATCHING TV WHIKE IN BED. THE LOUNGE ON THE 12TH FLOOR IS EXTREMELY LOUD, I WAS ON THE THE SEVENTH FLOOR AND COULD HERE IT IN MY ROOM IN THE EARLY AM.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 40So so sooooooooo many better places to spend your money!
There is nothing “standard” about this hotel except for the price they try to charge as a wannabe-boutique. If you’re traveler accustomed to a certain level of service, comfort, and cleanliness in a hotel, the Standard is not for you. The hotel itself is a renovated OLD office building in downtown LA. The walls, carpeting and bathrooms have a dirty quality to them and hallways and rooms smell like stale smoke. The bed and TV sit on the floor like you’ve entered into someone’s studio apartment and the glassed shower is a fail. They woefully missed the trendy and minimalistic bull’s-eye and successfully hit lazy and tacky dead on! The rooftop bar provides a fun, lively atmosphere with a DJ as well as great areas to lounge and take in the view and lovely LA evening. This should be the only reason to stay at the Standard (hotel guests receive passes to skip the lines to get up to the bar) although there wasn’t much of a line on either Fri or Sat night. Stay here if you plan to party up on the roof then stumble back to your room to pass out and not realize the below average accommodations that surround you and the noises that might otherwise keep up awake (buses on the street, other loud drunk hotel guests, and the occasional 5AM construction). Do not stay here if there are any other options in the Los Angeles area for you.

The roof top club was wonderful. It has great views and service. I also enjoyed the hotel's restaurant which has a good assortment of dishes to satisfy one's hunger. The rooms are a bit odd but very comfortable.
