Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 53Great location, fun hotel
Rooftop bar and pool make the hotel a lot of fun. Great location downtown. Staff a bit too cool on some occasions.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 53Better, but still struggling
I have been a customer at this hotel for years, and a few months complained about how low it had fallen. While it still desperately needs maintenance and upkeep, and needs to find a way to bring hip back, it seemed on this visit that many of the service issues had been resolved. Service was prompt and friendly, which it had not been at the hotel's nadir. I hope this is coming back. It's really the only fun place to stay in downtown LA.

Trip Type: Business Review 5 of 53Excellent Location and Warm Service
The people here are really great--especially at the front desk and restaurant. The parking situation is a bit frustrating (takes time) but the attendants are clearly making the best of a tight situation. If you have business downtown, the location allows you to be within walking distance to key locations. It's a fun spot at a reasonable rate--I was surprised and delighted by the quality of the coffee.

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 53The Beautiful and the Noisy
We found the staff of the hotel completely responsive to our every request. The room is large and the bath is amazing. But there are no drawers anywhere in the room. Also the bed is a foam slab, which is not the most comfortable choice. I have been staying at hotels with pillow-top mattresses, which I much prefer. The pool area and bar are fun, if a little too hip for our taste. We did not eat anything at the hotel so I can't speak to the food. It was mostly quiet but you could hear EVERY door shut anywhere nearby (and that is easily remedied, so they should fix it.) On Friday, it was very noisy, with talking and doors slamming late into the night. We had asked for a room in the quiet section. If this was the quiet part, I can't imagine what the noisy part was like! Also, this is a smoking hotel and you can smell it everywhere, even in the supposedly non-smoking rooms.

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 53Party Hotel
Great hotel if you love to party. Lobby feels like a club, with dark lighting, DJ, and always party people hanging about at night trying to get to the rooftop pool parties. Parking is a bit difficult as they share their lot with a public lot. Standard rooms are very small and basic. We had an "extra large" room and were fine with the size but zero closet space and no drawers anywhere to put things out of sight. Didn't like that dirty glasses were left in hallways for 2 days. But although hotel feels like a club, we didn't hear noise at all in our room.

Trip Type: Business Review 11 of 53Hotel was above Standard, door man needs people skills!
I sincerely enjoyed my stay. The hotel was decorated very well and quite comfortable. In general, the staff was very nice and accommodating. Though there was no coffee in the room, room service would have it to me in about five minutes. I do wish they had a full size ironing board, but I made do. In general, everything was well done and I enjoyed evenings on the roof top bar every night. However, the door man, excuse me, "door boy" Devon has a lot to learn about working with people. A door man like him belongs at some posh late night bar somewhere, not a place like The Standard that has business people staying there who expect more quality and aren't looking to start a fight. Suffice to say, that if you are looking for evening locations to take clients on a Tuesday night, evidently The Standard is too busy to allow the folks staying there to bring more than one person upstairs... and Devon will tell you in very rude terms.

Trip Type: Business Review 12 of 53Don't stay there if you want to sleep
Parties on roof-top bar going on every night. People running around screaming, jumping all night. Loud music in adjacent rooms every night until 3am. Front desk didn't do anything about it. Definitely not a hotel suitable for business people who need to get up rested in the morning!

Trip Type: Business Review 14 of 53sub-Standard for a luxury boutique
I used to love this place. The Rooftop bar was very hip, the rooms were funky, and the staff was great. I dont' know if the recession has had an impact or what, but now it's just not as good. The staff seems overworked and impatient. The rooms need some serious touch-up work (e.g. paint & carpet), and the rooftop bar scene just isn't what it used to be. On the other hand, I travel to LA for business, so the location is ideal for me, and I still think it's the best boutique downtown.

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 53Great Rooms/Service, a little loud...
This is a great hotel with great service but the roof top bar stays open unti l1:30 nightly and the music is loud in the room. I recommend a noise machine or fan if you stay on the east side of the building. other than the noise, I highly recommend.
