I'm all into smart shopping these days, with the economy and all, and I give The Clarendon a thumbs up!

I loved staying at the Clarendon Hotel and I would book this hotel again. The hotel is creative and chic with awesome art work in the hallways and rooms. Each room has a flat screen TV with full cable. There is a great pool and bar. See the city from the roof top patio/bar with its awesome views. Additionally, mix and mingle with sexy, hip locals. Unfortunately, they closed roof access on Friday and Saturday nights, so no after club roof top chilling to wind down your buzz or to watch the sun rise. We were NEVER-EVER able to connect wirelessly to the internet. However the hotel staff was very gracious to reset the router at our request. Tip: Bring one of those Sprint/AT&T WiFi cards. But the worse was the cleanliness - I found hairs in the tub and sink, an empty shampoo bottle at the top of the shower. Duck feathers in a suede blanket do not work well in a hotel. The blankets never look clean, with all the feathers sticking to suede, not to mention questionable spots stained on a suede blanket. Not a good look at all. Those things aside, I loved that young professionals of Phoenix choose to hang out at the pool, bar, and restaurant. There were always new faces in the hotel and things really got going on the weekend. So if got a few days, and a WiFi-card, pack you bags and head over to the Clarendon. Oh yea it is Phoenix so I hope you like Mexican themed food.

The rooms are big and very modern. The pool is beautiful and the rooftop bar is very cozy.

Nice attempt at a convienient hotel in a good location, however several issues occured during a 3 night stay: - checked in Friday night only to find out the shower was not working Saturday morning and there was a bullet hole in the bedroom window - was moved to another room while out during the day only to come back to find it had an extremely unpleasant odor. Was told there were no other rooms available and the hotel made no attempt to find another one. The best they could do was offer an measly $10 off the room rate - Last night air conditioner stopped working - When checking out, reservation was completely lost and even though stay was pre-paid through hotels.com was told all except the last room night would be charged to the card presented for incidentals when checking in. Would avoid hotel at all costs. For me, one or two gaffs during a stay are perfectly acceptable to have to deal with but a series such as this just goes beyond reason.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 9 of 37Could be awesome, but...
A very cool hotel. Sadly the pool was closed for a special event and the restaurant was closed for remodeling, which were the main draws for why we were staying there. The rooftop bar was a table with some alcohol and mixers, not really a bar.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 37great experience
I had a friend visiting and wanted to stay in or near downtown for the First Friday art walk in Phoenix. The hotel prices downtown were much higher, so I considered this midtown alternative. The cost was just right, and I feel like little, if anything, was sacrificed in the way of amenities at the Clarendon. As for the art walk, it was a short and convenient drive from the hotel to the Phoenix Art Museum to start the event, and would probably have been just as convenient to have taken the light rail. Checkout time is 11 AM, but I had some business in Tempe that ran late in the morning, and the hotel had no problem accommodating my request for a 1 PM checkout.
