Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 11Great Anniversary Weekend
We're originally from Baton Rouge and have spent a lot of time in New Orleans over the years. So we felt we knew what to expect when we chose the French Quarter location of the W to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We expected a great location, acceptable service, and for the rooms to be nice but worn from years of Mardi Gras revelers. We were thrilled to find excellent service and a lovely room with a courtyard view. Best part for me was the down bed and the spacious bathroom with a large marble makeup counter - making getting dressed for dinners at Bayona and August a pleasure. My only complaints: 1. The cover of the ironing board was a wreck making it tough to press clothes. I chose to muddle through it but am confident they would have brought a replacement had I taken the time to ask. 2. The large slate and glass shower was great and mostly very clean, but some mold in the corner was a bummer to see. A sparkling clean hotel shower is pretty critical in my view (although, admittedly, not always easy to come by). Beyond these minor annoyances, the hotel staff was charming and ready to help us with everything we asked of them. The "Whatever, Whenever" policy was in full effect and we used it often. Oh, and the bar is fantastic. Bartenders were fun and knowledgeable on wine, whiskey and the latest restaurant buzz.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 11Dark & tooooo modern
This hotel was for upscale hippies. The desk had to be cleared to get a small laptop on it. The bathroom sink & the table were separated making some things difficult. But at the outset we were referred to at the front desk as "YOU GUYS." Not Mr. or Mrs. or sir or madam "YOU GUYS." Thank the lord for the bell hops they were great but that and only that was the highlight of this hotel. Oh they had a garden view room but gave us a street view room. When I complained they did switch me to a garden view room. Why didn't they give me that room in the first place??? From YOU GUYS.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 11Not bad
The room given to us was quite noisy --at 6am each morning waking to the sound of construction and garbage trucks did not seem like a nice way to relax on vacation. Given the OFF season time of year, they should have given us a nicer room looking over the pool instead of the building under constrction across the street - as i am certain the hotel was not full. NOLA is pretty much a ghost town this time of year. other than that the room was very clean and nice.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 11Lovely Stay at W
Great location, great service. Also had a fantastic meal at the hotel restaraunt, Bacco. We were there during Mardi Gras and Valentine's day. So things were very busy, but the staff was still more than happy to do whatever they could for us. Room was small but nice/modern. Hotel is VERY pet friendly, which was great for us (we brought our 13 year old lab and he had a great stay). Location is just off the quarter..everything within easy walking distance, but you don't get as much traffic and noise at all hours. They do charge an arm and a leg to park at the hotel (especially during Mardi Gras). However, I found a coupon online for a nearby parking garage and paid 1/3 of what the hotel parking costs. When we go back to NO, we will stay here...especially if we are bringing one fo the dogs.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 11Great place to stay to enjoy New Orleans French Quarter
We are locals and get away for weekends a few times a year. We always try to find new locations to stay. This hotel use to be the Del La Poste, which we had stayed before. Then it was a very rustic environment with the charm of the French Quarter, now it is the W Hotel New Orleans French Quarter and if you have stayed in any "W" properties, it is not old time but more modern. Still we loved it and had a great time. The staff was very friendly.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 11Needs Improvement
For a W, I was pretty disappointed. This hotel is in need of a dramatic facelift. The carpet in our room was ridiculous - there were massive stains everywhere. I think the bathroom is also outdated. I think the W was modern back in the early 2000s...but now the style just seems kind of out-dated/not modern. On the good side, the location is wonderful and the service was very good for New Orleans. I wouldn't go in the pool, it was just small and seemed gross.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 11Great location, wonderful room.
We loved everything about this hotel. The staff was very courteous, with the exception of one valet, and we will definitely stay here on our next trip to New Orleans. The room was comfortable and trendy, and the location was perfect!

Excellent Service, stylish , perfect location. The italien restaurant belonging to the hotel is nice but nothing special.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 11Non-smoking room issue
The room was booked as non-smoking through hotels.com, but the hotel was not able to give us a non-smoking room which we didn't find out until opening the door of the room. They would not accomodate us but offered a candle. Their comment was that 3rd party reservations ONLY guarantee a room-not room type.
