40 years later and it still stands out as the historic hotel that it is..

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 307Good, not great
I have no major complaints about the hotel, but I did have higher expectations based on its solid reputation. The bathroom was a little outdated - this was in the Towers (more expensive) section, so I was hoping for better there. Everything was clean and functional, though. The bed was comfortable, and the location is great. Cheap (relative for Boston) overnight parking can be found nearby at the underground Boston Common garage if you don't want to pay the hotel price, pack lightly, and planned to walk around the city anyhow. Our room was bumped up from the standard that I had reserved through hotels.com to the more expensive Towers level without my request or knowledge. When I checked in I just went where they told me, then had a bill slipped under the door for the price difference. The consierge person removed the charge when I explained this, but was a little snooty and offered no apology. In summary: Not bad, but I can't help but feel there's better out there for the money.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 307Great Location
Great location if the weather is decent. Not a far walk from Copley to Quincy Market.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 307Rooms Need Improvement
Staff at hotel and valet were outstanding, helpful and friendly. Room needed help, cracked ceilings, lights not working, bad outlets in bathroom. Promised King sized bed, did not get that. Cramped room and VERY cramped bathroom

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 307Could smell smoke
The location is excellent, and we had a marvelous view of some beautiful roof-top and patio gardens. We realized that we've become spoiled by our recent hotel stays in non-smoking hotels when we were bothered by the smell of cigarette smoke in this one. I think that someone was smoking in a neighboring room (we were on the 12th floor).

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 307Very Nice Hotel
We felt the concierge level could have been a lot better. The breakfasts were very good - but that's it. We've experienced much better service at other hotels. The staff were friendly but they didn't overextend themselves to you.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 307Excellent Hotel and Location
Great hotel and location. Some odd things going on with the fire alarm during our stay, at least three alarms in two days - but only one in the middle of the night. Great place.

We were very pleased at this "historic" hotel in a great centralized location of Boston. Excellent restaurants within a block of the hotel as well as other attractions

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 307Great location
We went to a play, and the hotel was just few blocks away, it was the perfect location, The T was also just a block away. When I read other reviews someone had said the parking Garage was far away, it was just acreoss the street. The only issue I had was that parking is not included, but with the price I paid on hotels.com and parking it was still less than another hotel in the area.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 307location only perk
Before a quick trip to the cape we decided to stay in downtown boston for one night. I thought that the name "Park Plaza" would carry with it some essence of the regal, but alas we were disappointed. The rooms were very outdated, the service was ok, and our room was tiny. but I was happy to be in walking distance to the common. I would not stay here again though.
