Nice hotel in the middle of Regent University Campus. Friendly staff and good food at the Swan Terrace. A bit costly but can get a discount if you visit the 700 Club. There's also a university tour at 11am after the 700 club. The Founders Inn did seem that it could use some renovation. The windows were dirty w/ moss. Overall its a nice place but it fails to meet the price per night. It's costly.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 9Horrible stay
It took 40 minutes to check in because of a miscommunication with the hotel and hotels.com (they couldn't find a reservation for us). Then we were told where to park and after unloading all of our luggage and dragging it to the buildimg, it was the wrong building. We loeaded everything back up (it was raining now) to find the right building. One of the room's keys wuold not work. I went over to have the key "fixed" and when I returned (different building) it still would not work. We went to eat at their "upscale" restaurant and asked that maintenance go check the key. The apetizer came out burned yet they served it anyway and they second apetizer, the replacement, was still frozen in the middle. The crab cakes tasted like Dijon Mustard. When we stopped back by the front desk I was told there was no problem with the key. I was supposed to turn the key to the right until it stopped and then pull the door toward me and turn the key some more (All while juggling my computer, luggage and handbag). To end the bad hotel experience, the next day we went to their breakfast cafe The Muffin Pan and the man at the counter actually yelled at me because I was trying to point to the flavor of yogurt I wanted and I was trying to show him where it was in the glass case. After I made a comment he tried to backtrack but the damage was done. WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT GO BACK AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE unless you enjoy poor service and abuse from the staff.

It just doesn't get any better. I would expect to pay between $185-$300 for this quality.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 9Lovely Hotel
Elegant and serene surroundings. The lobby has beautiful architecture and exquisite antiques. It feels gracious. The buildings and grounds were meticulously kept up. Good food in the Swann Terrace - delicious butternut squash soup. Nice business center open late. The only small irritant was that the beds were a bit too soft. We would happily stay there again, especially with a sale such as we were fortunate enough to get. It has very easy access to the interstate highway - 64, I think.
