Trip Type: Business Review 2 of 14Very clean, very small, great value
I just come to Manhattan every week for work, so all I need is a clean, quiet place to sleep. The rooms are small, clean, and there is a hallway bath for every four rooms. Really worked out well; I'm staying there again.

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 14Tight Space but Low Cost
The location was great if you need to be in midtown. I had to be in the village,so a downtown hotel would have been better, but you can't beat the price. The room was small but clean and the sink in the room was a plus. The staff was friendly. I would have preferred that they had wifi so I could use my own laptop, but they had a single computer there for public use at a modest cost. The hotel was very secure inside and out.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 14No soap in the bathrooms?
Shared baths but no soap left in the bathroom or an air dryer. Staff handed me a stack of soap bars to leave in bathroom if I wanted. Cooling is through a piece of plywood so lots of street noise in the rooms. The rooms were over air freshened. No washrag was provided. Majority of TV stations are fuzz or distorted and remote doesn't work. Plus side includes very affordable and close to other areas. No noise from hotel to room even from bathroom.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 14Clean room in a high-dollar location for great price
It's hard to say anything bad about this hotel, and if anyone does, I would imagine it's because they didn't know what they were getting into. I just needed a locked room to store my stuff and sleep in at an affordable price in the Times Square/Broadway area, and that's exactly what I got. The shared bathrooms aren't dorm-style, they're like the bathroom at your house so they're totally private, and I never had to wait. They were clean, too, as was the room. The room was simple and small, but had everything I needed (sink/mirror, TV, closet with hangers, luggage stand, towels, soap, etc.) There are also mini-kitchens on every floor. The place was easy to get in and out of, and I was able to take a safe two-block walk to Times Square at 2am. Didn't notice any noise (above normal city levels) and slept soundly on a Friday night. This isn't the place to go for a romantic weekend getaway, but if you're roaming around the city (which you should be), this is a great cheap place to base out of.

Communal bathroom, and when you stretch your arms out, you can touch both walls. Linoleum floors, and the communla bathroom was not clean. Sheets and towels had more stains then my garage rags!!!

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 14A little better than I thought
When I was booking the room i got a little scared reading the other reviews. But it really wasnt bad at all. the bed frame was really flimsy tough; it wasnt even a real bedframe it was nailed to the wall. We were on the top floor that had a nice window view of the city. It wasnt bad sharing bathrooms. Theres one on every corner if one is taken. I would just recommend showering early in morning or at night because it gets busy round 9am.

Nice people, great location for the Times Square area. Through no fault of the Hotel, Hotels.com reserved a standard room that was not available when I got there. I had to settle for a very small single room. I did not like the strong incence/perfume odor they use to (spotlessly) clean the place. The bed headboard was moved up to the air conditioner, which squealed loudly all night. The air conditioner also prevented me from drawing the shades shut, so my choice was to be private or to sweat.

Hotel was very well maintained - clean and bright. But rooms are on the 2nd floor of the building over a street that remains noisey throughout the night.

Trip Type: Business Review 12 of 14Just what I needed
The Americana Inn was "European" in nature-- very small room, linoleum floor, and shared bathroom for the toilet and shower. The room had a sink in it, which I hadn't expected, so that was great-- could do teeth-brushing and make-up in the hotel room, and only had to pop out to the hall bath for the toilet and shower. The room was clean, but the acoutrements were non-existent of shabby. TV barely worked and the bedspread, though probably clean, was worn and torn. I would definitely stay here again if I needed an inexpensive, functional hotel in this location-- the location is PERFECT, by the way-- close to several subway lines and Macy's, Empire State, etc. A short walk to Times Square and the theatres.
