Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 11Not what I expected
Overall not a bad place to stay in Kauai, The hotel is clean , the staff is friendly, the grounds are OK. A big surprise they charge 13.00 a day to park your car.. No entertainment and nothing to do at night. And it's by itself so I went in Lihue at night and that also is quiet. Returning to this resort about 8 PM the guest parking is filled up but you can still find some place to park at the far edges of the lot.It seems all the hotel guests are in for the night. It's good for older guests but not for younger ones.Poupi Beach Area is a better location to stay.

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 11"Upgrades"
The staff "upgraded" our room, but then we only had one bed instead of two and they refused to change it back saying they didn't have any more rooms with two beds. Also, the key cards didn't work and they told me it was my fault because I put it in my purse near my cell phone...

What a beautiful place! We would have preferred to not be hounded about attending timeshare spiels, and would have like to have free internet for the price, but it is a wonderful spot and nice staff.

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 11Only good thing is the pool
I picked this hotel online because of the pool and grounds looked amazing. They were! But the rest of the hotel didn't meet my needs. If you don't have a car, you could be miserable. There is only one choice of restuarant.Which is a $35 buffet. The outside dining ended at 6 pm! which we were never ready to eat until 8 pm. The hotel charges an extra "resort fee" which is suppose to cover parking, use of phone ( local calls) and... get this.... the "free" mai tai reception each night by the pool. Well, since we didn't need parking or the phone we were paying $13 a night for 2 tiny weak mai tais. We had to change rooms 3 times over our 4 night stay. Do to someone smoking in the room next to us, we were extremely inconvienced at 9 pm to move all our stuff ( including crib and 3 small kids things) to a completely different building. Mind you there are strict laws in Hawaii about smoking anyway near a building and our neighbors were blowing smoke right into our room! The hotel did nothing to compensate us having to move, where I felt like the people smoking should be the ones that were moved! The messed up on our room service and sent up the mistake and then proceeded to charge us for a second delivery charge and gratuity for their mistake, which we later found out they also over charged us for the burgers as well. None of this was taken care of by hotel staff. Needless to say we felt " nickled and dimed" on EVERYTHING. there is no such thing as free service here! Choose the Marriot, they were wonderful!

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 11Needs updating
The setting was beautiful but the pool was too cold to use, the air in our room did not adjust appropriately and the TV sounded like it was going to blow up. The quality of the hotel in general was not like other resorts in Kauai.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 11under construction improvement
This was a nice hotel and we had a good time, but the room could have been cleaner when we arrived and they are renivating some areas. So there was some noise and inconvience that I was not aware of before our trip. Also the screen door in our room was broken and they did not comp us in any way. Overall we enjoyed our stay! Great pools and waterslide for kids! Although the kids have to be 42 inches to go on the slide another point which would have been helpfull to know when planning the trip. Our youngest son could not go on the slide and was heart broken.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 11Hilton Hotel Kauai July 2007
Our room was surprisingly spacious with views of the pool and beach. As others have noted, unfortunately the beach is not swimmable. Did get free water in the room which was nice for a change. The fitness center equipment is in need of replacement. Not good to see rust on equipment. Buffet dinner was excellent and wait staff very friendly. I liked the free wireless through most of the areas of the hotel. The lobby outside the restaurant and bar had the highest connection strength.
