This hotel looks like it is stuck in a 1970s time warp......and was out of the way.

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 232Nov. 5th Stay - Horrible
When we arrived around 8PM our room was not ready. The maid was still cleaning the bathroom, the bed was unmade. The maid was nice. Check-in is in need of dire improvement. They use a kiosk system. The actual employees at check-in were unfriendly and shared no information about the hotel. I tried to engage the woman in conversation and she had the personality of a dead worm. The check-in area is dark and poorly lit, making it hard to see. Additionally, if you have allergies or are sensitive to smoke, you don't want to stay here. The ventilation system in the hotel lobby and casino could choke a chimney. We did stay in a smoke free tower, which was truly smoke free and the horrible smells in the main tower were not present in the smoke free tower. The food was the ABSOLUTE WORST food I've ever tasted in my life. I had meatloaf that tasted like it was made of soggy bread...the meat still remains a mystery...the gravy was from a can, and I suspect all the food was from a can. Even the garden salad had a funny taste. If you have to stay at this hotel for whatever reason - plan on eating somewhere else. I could not wait to check out of this hotel.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 232Just So - So
The hotel has some realy old and dingy parts to it so hope that you are placed in the new part of the hotel. The reception area has a constant smell of smoke which was a major turn off from the moment I walked into the building. The casino floor had less smoke smell than the reception area. Go figure. I like to play craps and I found only one crap table open and it was run buy some rude and apperently unhappy workers. On the weekend night the $5 table went up to $10 which is a little too rich for me and the other table is still not open. This leaves me with having to leave the hotel to play someplace else. Since the hotel is not connected to the monorail system getting to other hotels on the strip is just a little more work. Attending a convension at the sametime didn't alway leave me with the luxury of finding transportation to other entertainment locations. I ofen like to play at the hotel I'm staying at when attending a convetion. The one cafe that was reasonably price was located near the conference halls. It closes eary which was a turn off. I did eat at the steak house one evening and the food was very good. At a price of over $110.00 for 2 with only 2 glasses of $10 wine and desert I would have been upset at this price if the food and service were not exceptional. We were in one conference hall where projectors were used and we were told that the lights in the front of the room could not be dimmed or turned off. This is not good for presentations. I found the way the hotel labled the room numbers and the elevator confusing and silly. Upon your first visit you too will be lost as to which button to push. I can certainly see why Hotels.com has it listed as a 3 star and maybe it should even be a 2.5 or 2.75 star if there ever is such a rating.

Trip Type: Business Review 5 of 232More bang for the buck
The Riviera Hotel beginning with Staff at the Registration Desk are most obliging and very professional. Overall, I always try to stay at the Riviera because it is near my business and easy to get in and out. Don't forget to try the Hotels best restaurant "Kady's". Salads are the best and service is outstanding.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 232Great Value - Hotel is a little tired but in great spot and nice rooms
At the price I paid I was expecting much worse. I travel 100 days a year for work so was ready. My room was like a courtyard room in a casino a short walk from convetion center. I would stay again.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 232A Convention Hotel
If you are attending a convention in this hotel, by all means, stay here. The rooms seem just recently updated, flat screen TVs, fresh linens, etc. However if you are looking for a vacation hotel, this is not the place for you. I suppose if you have very limited means, it's the best of the cheaper hotels. However it is not located near the major Strip hotels. The casino/surroundings etc quite dated. Fine for convention- Not so fine for a vacation. Oh - bring your own pillow - hardest foam pillows I've ever slept on. Ended up rolling the down comforter up and using it as a pillow - worked great.

Trip Type: Business Review 12 of 232Great Hotel
I always try to stay at the Rivera Hotel as it is close to my business. They have upgraded the rooms, service is outstanding and most especially the front desk. The restaurant 'Kadys' is excellent. They do need more staff but it is worth the extra wait and prices are affordable.

Check-in (Front desk)slow and always congested. Not enough personnel. Hotel charges high fee (by he hour) for late check out. Did not honor the rate booked thru hotels.com for an extra day.
