Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 85Very convenient to McGill, acceptably clean and good location.
The hotel was in a great location for us, close to downtown shopping and restaurants. We will definitely return.

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 85Beautiful Room with Beautiful View
The hotel was amazing and located in a busy, but nice area in Montreal. It was convenient to get to most places. The only problem was that the prices for parking and the restaurant were a little high. Great service and friendly atmosphere otherwise.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 85Very enjoyable
My 14 year old daughter and I stayed for 3 nights. We loved the neighborhood and the location close to the Metro. The roof top pool was a nice feature considering the great weather we had. The room was clean and spacious and very quiet, even though it was right next to the elevator. We had a great time!

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 85Great hotel -- repeat customer
We are frequent visitors to Montreal -- my spouse is a former Montrealer. Le Cantlie is an excellent hotel -- especially if you opt for the executive suite. All rooms come with kitchens, I believe. I recommend getting Montreal bagels and cream cheese (from St. Viateur Bagel Factory) and pastries from Premier Mousin to stock the kitchen. The latter is a cafe chain in the city. There is one just down the street from the Cantlie on Sherbrooke, past the Fine Arts Museum. The hotel is well situated (stay away from hotels around Rene Levesque St -- you get no sense of what the city is about in that convention and business area. Le Cantlie is close to McGill Univ and a block away from the Ste. Catherine St. shopping area. The Fine Arts Museum is two blocks away and a fabulous museum -- free, too, except for the special shows. As for the hotel itself: the beds are very comfortable. Rooms are well appointed. We like the suite, although it's not really a separate bedroom. You have glass doors with gauzy curtains separating the bedroom area from the living room/kitchen area. Not as private (if you've got kids or friends sleeping on the pull out couch) as one might like, but workable. Personnel are fine, if not super friendly. We do want to put in a good work for Daniel, one of the valets in the parking garage. He works the evening shift and was wonderful. He's been there as long as we've been staying at the Cantlie.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 85Awesome like a B movie
The Search For One-Eyed Jimmy. This place ROCKS!! OK, it's not the 4 quarters. Yeah, it's not even the Mary go, or a Comfort whatever. It's a block from Peel Metro, unofficial Gateway To The Universe. They park your freakin car and get it for you an hour later if you want it. Oh yeah, better leave your truck at home -- won't fit in the garage. Rooftop pooooool -- how cool are we? Tiny elevators you sometimes have to ride up to ride down -- Spend a minute with your neighbors. Small TV I never had time to watch anyway. Bathroom sink was cracked, but didn't leak my tooth paste spittle. Charm! Really friendly staff and guests. This is a hidden jewel. Not for my sister with the $10,000 ring or my neighbor the junkie. Definitely for families with small kids (us), people too old for Ronald M's house, teachers and lawyers on a budget, the overweight poet who sometimes forgets to floss, and the Chinese immigrant he married. We go stay, we stay go? Stay here!! Go! See ya there!

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 85Loved it.
We stayed here with our 3 kids while visiting Montreal. The neighborhood is vibrant. We were able to walk all over and to easily access Metro and the underground mall when needed. The staff was helpful. Our room was large and very comfortable. The rooftop pool was a pleasant addition. We would return in a second.

It was our first time traveling to the French-speaking province. We were told that people were different there. I guess we just did to think that they would be so different at this hotel, which seems to be a very international place. We heard their guests speaking Russian, Spanish and perhaps Arabic. During check-in a very pleasant receptionist would mispronounce our last name. I corrected her once thinking that it might be an honest mistake. She would mispronounce it again. I corrected her the second time and guest what? She would say it incorrectly the third time. Looked like she was just teasing us. Another time we asked a different receptionist for a good place to eat. She directed us to a street 30 minutes (walking) away from the hotel. It turns to be a very unattractive and dirty part of the city with a huge variety of “adult” stores and “adult” show. Our 8 y.o. had a lot of “fun” window shopping. We tried out faith the “last” third time. I saw a very attractive part of Montreal in the magazine and asked a receptionist where it might be. He told us that it was the French part of the town and explained how to get there. When we got there of cause it did not look like anything we were looking for (surprise-surprise). We just wasted 2 hours of our time which is a lot when you have only 2 days. After all that we gave up asking anything at the reception. PS If you do not speak French do your homework yourself.

This hotel is centrally located with easy access to restaurant and shopping area. However, if you have an SUV, the hotel parking can not accomodate you, which we find out on a rainy day. The room is nice with a good size kitchen. The bathroom is very small and definitely need a makeover. There is no gym in the hotel and the swimming pool is on the roof, which means you may not be able to use it most of the time considering the weather there. Staff is friendly and helpful.
