Total Disappointment

A close friend of mine highly recommended this hotel,although the reviews I read online varied from horrible to incredible, I took my chances by listening to my friend. I'm sorry to say that she was completely wrong. While the location of the hotel can't get any better, the rooms themselves could stand to to use a little work. First and formost, checking in was a piece of cake, no lines, which was shocking considering it was the Friday before Labor Day. Once we arrived in our room, we were totally disappointed. It wreaked of mold and mildew and it was hot. We turned the AC on as high as it would go, but 30 mins later it still wasn't cooling off the room. Upon closer inspection we noticed that the carpet was soaked all the way to the bed...no wonder the room smelled of mold and mildew. I immediately called maintenance and while they were polite and apologetic, they informed me that there were no rooms available for us to move to, and suggested that we stick it out for the night and try to get a new room the next morning. They told me that maintenance would be there shortly to fix the problem. He arrived 45 mins later...didn't fix anything because he saw that it was completely flooded and then suggested that we open up the window to get the smell out and said that someone would be up right away to clean the carpet. We left and went to a show, but I decided to give it another shot with the front desk bc the thought of sleeping in that hot, smelly room was making us both nautious. Luckily, we got moved to another room immediately, which makes me wonder why this didn't happen with my initial phone call. We went upstairs to pack our things and move when we got a knock at the door 15 mins later, 2 girls were already assigned our room, despite the AC and the smell...poor girls. I couldn't believe they would put them in our room despite all that was wrong with it. Our new room was defintiely better, but the shower didn't work properly...half the water was coming out the show
