Needs Renovation & Improvement

Can only say that this hotel needs a major renovation and for the money, I wouldn't recommend it. Room had a great view and that was the only pro of this hotel. Decor is 70's plastic furniture and very dated and old. Significant staining to the upholstery seating, signficant dust under the bed, and a dirty bathroom were all drawbacks to this hotel. Location is fantastic, but there are other hotels to choose from in the area that are probably similar rate for a better experience.

Great Deal

When I first saw The Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka on Hotels.com, I thought it looked nice and would work for our vacation. I never imagined how wonderful it would be. The room was large, the staff friendly and attentive, the hotel was beautiful, and the Metro Station is just outside. I would HIGHLY reccomend this hotel to anyone. The only caution I would offer to any future guests would be to skip eating in the hotel restaurants all together. Have a drink on the 40th floor for the view (you'll pay roughly $20 for each drink), but a burger costs $28 and fries are $9. They're overpriced and one evening when we were in a time crunch, we visited one expecting to take what we couldn't finish with us. Unfortunately, they have a policy that they can't allow to go boxes. There's plenty of restaurants nearby offering higher quality food for much less than the $70 we paid for 2 entrees and 2 beers.

Amazing Stay

The staff is accomodating, the view INCREDIBLE, lots of amenities, big bed (we got a King), spacious room. It's rare I want to spend any time in a hotel room when vacationing, but I enjoyed lounging around in the japanese robe, marvelling at the view of Akasaka. For westerners that don't want to pay $25 for breakfast at the hotel restaurant, there is a McDonalds close by, open 24 hours. The subway station is about as close as you can get. For a unique experience, have the concierge make reservations for you at Ninja Akasaka just across the street (well freeway actually). Stick with the a la carte or Beef course unless you really embrace Japanese flavors beyond tempura and sushi. It's a bit pricey but worth every penny for the experience. Anyway, we plan to go back and I know I'll be staying at this hotel again. It was such a bargain!

Great place to stay in Tokyo

I've stayed at the Grand Prince Akasaka three times now and definitely recommend it. It's a great value for the money, with quite large rooms by Tokyo standards. The location is also extremely convenient: the Akasaka-mitsuke metro station is a short 3 minute walk and it's also within walking distance of the Imperial Palace. The neighborhood behind the metro station is full of great restaurants and bars as well. The area around the hotel is nice a quiet though, so it's a nice retreat after spending your days in Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku or Roppongi, all of which are very close.
