Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 55Wonderful people
The staff at the Royal Lahaina Resort were very professional and friendly. They took great care of us. Excellent Waitstaff. High quality snorkeling gear to rent w/ great tips on where to go. A couple of maintenance issues (clogged shower drain & unsync'd TV) were immediately taken care of upon reporting the issue. Great Luau!

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 55Great hotel.
We liked everything about this hotel. It's location, cleanliness, comfort of rooms. It's alittle more money than we would normally spend but for our honeymoon we wanted something really nice. We were really pleased

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 55Average Hotel For Your Money
The day we arrived and checked in,they wanted to put us in the outside cottages. We had payed for the garden view in the main building but the lady wasn't helpful fixing the problem.Eventually they came around and put us where we should've been in the first place. The beach was nice outside the hotel but the eating at the resort was abit pricey. I wouldn't come back to this hotel if we stayed in kanapali again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 55Great room, great location, nice staff, dated grounds
Generally, we were very happy with our stay at the Royal Lahaina. The rooms (the renovated ones) are nice, the staff were friendly and very interested in helping keep us happy, and the location was very convenient; conversely, the exterior / grounds of the hotel are dated and not very lush. We stayed in the Tower with the renovated rooms and were very pleased with it - we liked the decor, and we used our refrigerator to stock up on food/drinks and then didn't have to eat all our meals out. The location was great - very close to Whaler's Village, a short drive to Front Street in Lahaina or Kapalua Village for some good restaurants, and a very short walk to great snorkeling (if a bit crowded) at Black Rock. On the downside, the hotel depends on a large number of outsourced vendors - the sundries store takes about five minutes to charge something to your room because they're not really part of the hotel's system, and you can't get a receipt for your Wi-Fi charges ($10 a day) from the hotel because it's through a partner. They need to work on providing more seamless service and not make it so obvious that things are separate. Also, while the rooms in the Tower have been nicely updated, the exterior is really very basic with three smallish, no frills pools and the grounds are not at all lush or tropical. Their poolside cabana also didn't have a blender when we were there so no pina coladas, which was shocking to us on a tropical island, but we were told that they're getting a more complete set there soon and should have that addressed. They DO have a fantastic lawn strewn near one of the pools with lawn chairs that people can sit on while enjoying a beautiful view of the ocean, and the beach in front is truly lovely, but they need to jazz up the exterior and make it all feel a little freshened up to bring it ot the level of the renovated rooms. All of that said, we really paid a fantastic price for our room and feel we got a tremendous value for the nice room and gr

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 55A very good value
This was a very good hotel. The ups, outstanding location, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the food was very good and it was a very good value for what we paid. The opportunities would be some better quality control in daily housekeeping and get all the elevators running. We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort and would stay there again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 55Great hotel
We were upgraded to a partial ocean view upon arrival. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The beach is one of the best in Maui. Not very crowded. Just half a mile down was a great place to snorkel. The pool isn't the fanciest pool, but who needs it when you've got a great beach. Location was good, but you definitely need a car to get around.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 55Great Hotel!
We were so very pleased with the Royal Lahaina Resort! Our room was beautiful with an amazing view of the ocean. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom had loads of storage (so we didn't have to leave everything on the counter all week) as well as a good amount of closet and drawer space for clothing. The staff was very pleasant and happy to help. The two pools were wonderful and the hotel is just a stone's throw to the beautiful beach. You can walk to Whaler's Village for dining and shopping and Lahina (where you will find most of the dining and shopping in the area)is a five-minute ride away. The only downside was the slow elevators but I would not let that keep me from staying here again. Great hotel!

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 55Poor Service
We were married at and honeymooned at this hotel. The hotel did nothing extra for us. No room upgrade, no champagne, no nothing. Our first night there we ate at the hotel. What a mistake that was. Our food was completely cold, not cool but COLD. Our waiter came to our table three times during the entire meal. Once to take our order, once to bring our food and once after having to get up to find him for the bill. After our wedding my brother had a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries sent to our room. The next morning we set the service outside of our room where it remained for the next two days. It took three calls and a threat to check out to get it picked up. We will never stay here again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 55Comfortable Hotel
Convenient to everything in Kaanapali or Lahaina without a car. Older facility, undergoing "improvements" in some areas, but not disruptive to our stay. Had to ask for housekeeping corrections (sufficient towels, replacement coffeepot), but each request was handled in a timely way, with apology. Good food, quiet, everything we needed right on site, if not fancy-schmancy.

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 55Just OK
Royal Lahaina is just OK. Its beach location is perfect, the bar was fun, and the Tiki bar was useful. But they REALLY need to update their elevators. The first night we got there, all 3 elevators worked fine. The next morning we were down to 2. OK, no big deal. Next morning down to 1. OK, we're in Maui. How bad can life really be?? Next day... Yup, not one elevator in operation. I'm relatively young, so still OK. Well, unless I was scrambling to make an early tee time at Kapalua and had to lug my golf bag and shoes down 8 flights of stairs. Not fun. I can't imagine the elderly people here. They had to be livid. My wife was and she's younger than I am. But, as I told her, it could be worse. It could be the elevators at work, not in Maui. We got a partial ocean view. (That's all you need. We saw whales and rainbows from our bed every morning.) The rooms were a bit snug, but you're not in Maui for the hotel room, right?? This place is just OK. For the right price, I'd stay there again. But I'd also splurge and stay at Kapalua next time, too.
