Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 136Great for the Money
The location (right off Union Square) was wonderful, and our adjoining hotels were the St. Francis and others which are much more expensive. The only problem we had was that there is no cooling unit (although we were told we could request a portable device), and it was warm at night, which meant open windows, and given the proximity to Union Square that meant a noisy night. However, the hotel staff was helpful and extremely nice, and the hotel had a nice little library. Overall, very satisfied.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 136Great Location, Great Value
Located half a block from Union Square and right on the Cable Car line, this hotel was perfect to see San Francisco. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and parking is available through a parking deck about 1 block away from the hotel and requires only 2 turns from the deck to get to the Golden Gate bridge to head to Sonoma and wine country.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 136Great Hotel!!!
The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I also appreciated that the shampoo and lotion were organic and that there was a recycle basket in the room. The staff were very helpful. We would definitely stay there again. Great price for a great hotel!

Our stay at this hotel was great. The front desk staff was very nice, had an easy checkin/checkout. The room was very clean, great bed and pillows. We had a room looking onto Powell St. and was able to open the window and get out to the fire escape and watch the people. Great location, there is a little sushi place up Powell, which was reasonable and nice atmosphere. Found a great Irish Pub off Bush, between Powell and Grant. Great place. We will stay at the Chancellor Hotel again, it was a great trip.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 136Can't beat the location for the price!
Union Square location was awesome...lots of restaurants and cable car pick up right outside for a ride all the way to the Wharf, Crookedest Road, Ghirardelli Square, blocks off Chinatown... Having no AC didn't bother us at all since even in summer it's pretty cool in San Fran. Room was small...especially the bath, but you expect it in San Fran. Big walk-in closet made up for it since you can stuff your luggage out of the way. Hotel breakfast didn't look very good, so we headed next door to Sears...don't miss it! You can hear most of the noise outside with the cable cars ringing and Union Square being a hot gathering spot, but the hotel offered white noise machines at no charge by hotel which completely took care of it. Also the "pillow bar" is incredible...we tried 3-4 different kinds...worth the stay just for that!

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 136Great service!
The staff was very nice. The room was just the right price for what I paid for. I couldn't ask for more. It's centrally located in Union Square, just three blocks from the Westfield Mall and one block over from the Powell Cable Car.

The room was exactally what we paid for, a place to sleep. This is not a place you would want to spend a lot of time in especially if they put you where they put us, near a fan of some sort in the back of the building that hummed all night. Overall it was a great price to stay for a few night in the middle of it all in San Francisco.
