Trip Type: Business Review 2 of 120Loved this hotel.
I really loved this hotel. The location was great, it was really clean, the staff were really friendly, and it had a great little bar downstairs. I would most certainly stay here again if I am ever in San Fran again.

Trip Type: Business Review 5 of 120Great hotel staff, and conveniently located to everything.
The room was small, but was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located to just about everything - walking distance to Union Square, China Town, Russian Hill, and the Theater District. The trolley runs right past the hotel which takes you to the wharf. The hotel staff was very helpful with directions, and suggestions on what to see.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 120Great Location
I always enjoy staying in an around the SF Union Square area. This was the first time I stayed at the Chancellor and was very impressed with the hotel. It is directly across the street from the Sir Francis Drake and I must say that the room was better than what I had at the Drake.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 120Superb location, good amenities
Located right off of Union Square, the hotel offered everything for a comfortable stay. There are packages that include offsite parking, which is only two blocks away with unlimited in/out access. The room itself was a good size for independent hotels in the area. A very comfortable bed with your choice of different types of pillows. My room had a flat screen TV, big bathtub, huge closet, iron, desk, organic shampoo/conditioner, even a bottle opener. You could actually open the window. If it got cold, I noticed there was a space heater in the closet. Front desk staff was slightly stuffy (think English butler), but not rude. For the price, I couldn't ask for anything better.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 120Good value for Union Square
Nothing special about this hotel. It is typical of the older hotels in the Union Square area. This hotel has not been updated like many of the other similar hotels in the area (definitely not a boutique hotel). However, it is less expensive.

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 120Great Value and location
Older hotel but great location. Great value. Hotel in good shape for its age. room was comfortable and clean. I was on thirteenth floor and room was not too noisy considering the location. Many restaurants and bars in the area and, yes, lot's of homeless folks. Still, this is a safe neighborhood. This is certainly one of the BEST values in SF

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 120Good location and attentive staff
I stayed at the hotel for almost a week. The staff, room, and hotel met very acceptable standards. I did have one matter during my stay that needed attention and I must say that the response to my request was immediate and exceptional, which gave me the impression that the hotel is very seriously and attentively run by competent staff who do care about the quality of service they deliver. I was very pleased with my stay and very pleased to discover how efficient and professional the staff was.

The location is great. Rooms are small but very comfortable and updated. If you want quiet ask for it, otherwise you'll be dreaming about cable cars.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 120Great find
I love staying at non-coroporate hotels; the Chancellor reminded me of smaller European hotels. The staff was incredibly helpful, the room was clean and very comfortable. Loved the coffee and cookies in the lobby at all hours. The only problem I had is that SF was unseasonably hot and the lack of air conditioning was a little problematic. Also, if you are a light sleeper like I am, the rooms in the front of the hotel are far too noisy but the staff was very good about relocating me to the back where I slept just fine.

Trip Type: Business Review 14 of 120Decent Hotel
The hotel was one of the cheaper options in the area, so considering the cheaper price it was a good deal. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The bed was too hard for my taste; the mattress was very firm and the bed was actually two twin beds pushed together, so you could feel the crease in the middle where they met.

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 120Great hotel for solo woman traveller
While there may be larger rooms in the hotel, my room was small but that worked fine for me as I was traveling alone on business. The boutique hotel atmosphere, the small cozy bar, cookies, coffee in the lobby all made me feel comfortable and safe. I appreciated their commitment to the environment and all the little touches to make your stay more comfortable--pillow choice, special bath options.
